Owensboro Catholic coach Michael Robertson started the following lineup: 6-0 Jr. Hannah McKay, 5-11 Sr. Madelyn Lyon, 6-0 Sr. MacKenzie Keelin, 5-7 Jr. Caroline Reid, and 5-8 Jr. Spencer Harvey.  Scott County coach Steve Helton countered with 6-0 So. Kenady Tompkins, 5-10 Sr. Maaliya Owens, 6-2 Jr. Malea Williams, 5-5 Sr. Juliette Smith, and 5-5 Jr. Morgan DeFoor. 

 

Owensboro Catholic took advantage of a 17-8 advantage in the second quarter and an 18-6 advantage in the final quarter to upset Scott County by a score of 62-51.  Scott County led 45-44 after three quarters and trailed 50-49 with 4:06 left on the clock.  Owensboro Catholic ended the game on a 12-2 run.   Scott County only shot 30.8% from the field and was outscored from the free throw line by a 19-6 margin.  Owensboro Catholic’s “Triple Towers” 6-0 Hannah McKay, 6-2 Sarah Clemens, and 6-0 MacKenzie Keelin created match up problems for Scott County at times on both ends of the court.  The score was tied six times and there were three lead changes in the game.

 

Owensboro Catholic shot 44.2% from the field including five of eight from the three point line.  The Lady Aces connected on 19 of 26 free throws, pulled down 33 rebounds, and scored five points off eight Scott County turnovers.  Scott County shot 30.8% from the field including six of 24 from beyond the arc.  The Lady Cardinals connected on five of 11 free throws, pulled down 41 rebounds, and scored 10 points off 12 Owensboro Catholic turnovers.

 

Hannah McKay led Owensboro Catholic with 23 points including seven of nine free throws, 15 rebounds, and four assists.  6-2 Sr. Sarah Beth Clemens added 16 points including four three point baskets and three blocked shots.  MacKenzie Keelin recorded 12 points, four rebounds, and two assists.

 

Morgan DeFoor led Scott County with 20 points including four three point baskets, three assists, and two steals.  Maaliya Owens added 11 points, five rebounds, and two steals.  Juliette Smith recorded 11 points, four rebounds, and three assists.  Malea Williams added five points, 18 rebounds, five blocked shots, and four steals.
