Covington Catholic took a 36-0 lead and went to a running clock with 3:35 to go in the first half on their way to a 49-9 victory over Madison Southern. Covington Catholic recorded 14 first downs and 325 yards of total offense. The Colonels were penalized once for five yards and had a pass intercepted. Madison Southern recorded three first downs and 67 yards of total offense. The Eagles were penalized three times for 25 yards and had two passes intercepted.
Daniel Felix led Covington Catholic’s ground game with 86 yards and four touchdowns on 10 carries. Owen Nally carried the ball six times for 36 yards and a touchdown. Reid Hummel recorded 31 yards on five carries. Caleb Jacob carried the ball twice for 31 yards. Caleb Jacob completed nine of 11 passes for 136 yards and two touchdowns with one interception. Ethan Reardon caught three passes for 76 yards. Michael Mayer added three receptions for 31 yards and a touchdown. Andy Molique caught two passes for 30 yards and a touchdown. Jack Stava returned one kickoff for 26 yards. Trey Gronette kicked off seven times for a 58.1 average with five touch backs. Michael Mayer led the defense with five solo tackles with one of his tackles resulting in an 11 yard loss. David Sullivan added four sol tackles. John Lawrie recorded three solo tackles with one of his tackles resulting in a two yard loss. Jackson Hodge’s one solo tackles resulted in a 17 yard loss. Ryan Schneider and Jack Raisbeck each intercepted a pass.
Adrian Jones led Madison Southern’s ground game with 54 yards on 14 carries. Tobias Storm carried the ball eight times for five yards and a touchdown. Tobias Storm completed one of seven yards for eight yards with two interceptions. Walt Smith caught one pass for eight yards. Walt Smith returned three kickoffs for 41 yards with a long return of 20 yards. Levi Benton led the defense with six solo and four assisted tackles with one of his tackles resulting in a one yard loss. Jayshaun Ethrid added four solo tackles with one of his tackles resulting in a one yard loss. Jackson Chamber also recorded four solo tackles. Jonah Farnstrom intercepted a pass.
