Fairdale vs. Owensboro

Both of these fine teams came in with 11-1 records but Owensboro dominated tonight with an opportunistic, swarming defense that put intense pressure on the Fairdale quarterback and rolled to a 41-6 victory over Fairdale. The Red Devils also utilized a balanced offense with over 200 yards both on the ground and through the air. Owensboro recorded 25 first downs and 423 yards of total offense. The Red Devils were penalized nine times for 85 yards and lost two fumbles. Fairdale recorded 10 first downs and 139 yards of total offense. The Bulldogs were penalized 11 times for 70 yards, lost a fumble, and had one pass intercepted.
Ethan Avery led Owensboro’s ground game with 143 yards and two touchdowns on 25 carries. Gavin Wimsatt carried the ball six times for 51 yards. Cameron Thompson added 26 yards and a touchdown on two carries. Treyvon Tinsley caught six passes for 106 yards and two touchdowns. Tyren Hayden added three receptions for 31 yards. Ethan Avery recorded four receptions for 29 yards. Steven Stevenson caught five passes for 27 yards. Julius Eberhart intercepted a pass.
Mekale Buckner led Fairdale’s ground game with 53 yards and a touchdown on seven carries. Earl Cameron carried the ball 10 times for 25 yards. Travis Helm added 21 yards on four carries. Trey McCoy completed seven of 31 passes for 49 yards with one interception. Charles Ward caught three passes for 36 yards. Earl Cameron added two receptions for nine yards. Travis Helm added one reception for five yards. Trey McCoy punted five times for a 41.8 yard average. Mekale Buckner returned two kickoffs for 30 yards. Travis Helm and Daihmont Tandy each returned one kickoff for 29 and 21 yards respectively. Jordan Eskridge led the defense with two solo and two assisted tackles.
