Eastern Kentucky University coach AW Hamilton started the following lineup: 6-8 So. Tre King, 6-3 Sr. Ty Taylor, 6-8 Jr. Darius Hicks, 6-2 Jr. Jacquess Hobbs, and 6-2 So. Jomaru Brown.  Upstate coach Dave Dickerson countered with 6-7 So. Josh Aldrich, 6-3 So. Everette Hammond, 6-9 So. Nevin Zink, 5-10 So. Dalvin White, and 6-1 Fr. Tommy Bruner.

Upstate led 44-19 with 15:33 left in the game and survived a furious Eastern Kentucky rally to earn a 79-67 victory.  Upstate shot 38.9% from the field including seven of 20 from the three point line.  They connected on 30 of 38 free throws, pulled down 41 rebounds, and committed 16 turnovers.  Eastern Kentucky shot 32.8%from the field including seven of 28 from beyond the arc.  The Colonels connected on 22of 29 free throws, pulled down 37 rebounds, and committed 18 turnovers.

Everette Hammond led Upstate with 27 points including two three point baskets, 11 of 12 free throws, nine rebounds, three assists, and two steals. Tommy Bruner added 19 points including three three point baskets, six of six free throws and five rebounds.  Josh Aldrich recorded 12 points including six of seven free throws and seven rebounds.  Nevin Zink pulled down eight rebounds.

Jomaru Brown led Eastern Kentucky with 17 points including two three point baskets, seven of nine free throws. Tre King added 13 points including five of five free throws, nine rebounds, and two assists.  Darius Hicks recorded 12 points, five rebounds, and two assists.  Ty Taylor added 14 points including two three point baskets, six of six free throws, five rebounds, and three assists.
