Madison Central vs. Henry Clay (Girls)

Madison Central coach Brad Lovely started the following lineup: 5-9 Jr. Raelynn Miller, 5-7 Sr.Taleya Todd, 5-11 Sr. Jekauri McKeithen, 5-4 Fr. Eve Carter, and 5-5 Jr. Brianna Bierbaum.  Henry Clay coach Eric Sanford countered with 5-10 So. Lauren Thomas, 5-8 Fr. Alli Stone, 5-10 So. Kennedy Williams, 5-0 Sr. Tavionna Sanford, and 5-6 Jr. Ravion Jackson.

 

Henry Clay dodged the proverbial bullet as they escaped with a 48-47 victory after Henry Clay missed two free throws with 3.3 seconds left on the clock.  It was a hard fought battle with Henry Clay holding a 10 point lead in the first quarter and Madison Central leading by five points early in the final quarter.  There were seven ties and nine lead changes in the game.  The game was won and lost at the free throw line as Henry Clay was 15 of 16 from the charity stripe and Madison Central could only manage 13 of 26.

 

Henry Clay shot 24.1% from the field including five of 17 from the three point line.  The Blue Devils connected on 15 of 16 free throws, pulled down 37 rebounds, and scored 14 points off 29 Madison Central turnovers.  Madison Central shot 37% from the field including zero of four from beyond the arc.  The Indians connected on 13 of 26 free throws, pulled down 45 rebounds, and scored 17 points off 23 Henry Clay turnovers.

 

Ravion Jackson led Henry Clay with 18 points including two three point baskets, eight of eight free throws, four rebounds, and two assists.  5-3 Sr. Madison Cox added 11 points including three three point baskets and four steals.  Lauren Thomas recorded seven points, 15 rebounds, two assists, two blocked shots, and five steals.  Alli Stone chipped in with six points, five rebounds, and two assists. 

 

Jekauri McKeithen led Madison Central with 15 points, 15 rebounds, and two assists.  Taleya Todd added 10 points, four rebounds, and four steals.  Eve Carter recorded eight points, six rebounds, two assists, and three steals.
