Southwestern vs. Scott County (Girls)

Southwestern coach Junior Molden started the following lineup; 5-10 Sr. Regi Cundiff, 5-8 Sr. Kennedy Harris, 5-8 Jr. Marissa Loveless, 5-4 Sr. Jenna Wood, and 5-6 Jr. Alexa Smiddy.  Scott County coach Steve Helton countered with 6-0 Jr. Kenady Tompkins, 5-6 So. Emma Price, 6-3 Sr. Malea Williams, 5-5 Sr. Morgan DeFoor, and 5-6 Jr. Kennon Owens.

 

Southwestern trailed 32-27 at halftime but fueled by eight three point baskets in the second half rallied to defeat Scott County by a score of 73-65.  The score was tied three times and there were three lead changes in the game.  Southwestern shot 34.5% from the field including 11 of 35 from the three point line.  The Warriors connected on 24 of 35 free throws, pulled down 33 rebounds, and scored 19 points off 19 Scott County turnovers.  Scott County shot 32.8% from the field including three of 29 from beyond the arc.  The Cardinals connected on 18 of 23 free throws, pulled down 56 rebounds, and scored nine points off 12 Southwestern turnovers.  Scott County held a 25-4 advantage in second chance points.

 

Kennedy Harris led Southwestern with 31 points including six three point baskets, 11 of 13 free throws and five rebounds.  Alexa Smiddy added 17 points, four rebounds, and four steals.  Jenna Wood recorded 14 points including four three point baskets.

 

Malea Williams led Scott County with 22 points, 16 rebounds, and two blocked shots.  Kenady Tompkins added 14 points and 16 rebounds.  Morgan DeFoor recorded 14 points including two three point baskets and five rebounds.
