Eastern Kentucky University coach Samantha Williams started the following lineup: 5-11 Jr. Bria Bass, 5-8 Sr. Shay Solomon, 6-2 Jr. I’Liyah Green, 5-6 Jr. Teri Goodlett, and 5-7 Jr. De’Ayra Davis. Vanderbilt coach Stephanie White countered with 6-2 Jr. Autumn Newby, 5-10 Fr. Demi Washington, 6-5 Sr. Mariella Fasoula, 5-7 Jr. Chelsie Hall, and 5-9 So. Jordyn Cambridge.
Vanderbilt led by 16 in the third quarter but had to withstand an Eastern Kentucky rally in which the Colonels took a 65-62 with 4:53 left in the game before Vanderbilt rallied for a 75-69 victory. There were five lead changes and two ties in the game. Vanderbilt shot 47.5% from the field including three of nine from the three point line. The Commodores connected on 14 of 19 free throws, pulled down 47 rebounds, and scored 13 points off 10 Eastern Kentucky turnovers. Eastern Kentucky shot 39.1% from the field including six of 20 from beyond the arc. The Colonels connected on nine of 13 free throws, pulled down 31 rebounds, and scored 11 turnovers off 17 Vanderbilt turnovers.
6-0 Fr. Koi Love led Vanderbilt with 17 points, eight rebounds, and two blocked shots. Chelsie Hall added 12 points, four rebounds, and six assists. Mariella Fasoula recorded 11 points, 11 rebounds, and four blocked shots. 5-11 Sr. LeaLea Carter also scored 11 points. Jordyn Cambridge recorded eight points, nine rebounds, and three assists.
Bria Bass led Eastern Kentucky with 16 points including three three point baskets, seven rebounds, and two steals. 5-6 Jr. Qay Stanton added 13 points, seven assists, and four steals. Shay Solomon recorded 13 points and five rebounds.
