Western Hills coach Brandon Muravchick started the following lineup: 5-4 Fr. Lauren McGaughey, 5-4 Sr. Maddie LeCompte, 5-5 Fr. Kiana Mitchell, 5-2 Sr. Kellen Kilgore, and 5-4 Jr. Audrey Butler. Madison Central coach Brad Lovely countered with 5-10 Jr. Raelynn Miller, 5-8 Sr. Taleya Todd, 5-11 Sr. Jekauri McKeithen, 5-4 Fr. Eve Carter, and 5-5 Jr. Brianna Bierbaum.
Western Hills led by 15 points early in the final quarter but had to survive a late rally to earn a 58-54 victory over Madison Central. Madison Central had difficulties all day denying Western Hills penetration to the basket and the Lady Wolverines repeatedly got to the rim and was 20 of 25 from the free throw line. Western Hills shot 40.5% from the field including four of 12 from the three point line. The Lady Wolverines pulled down 34 rebounds, and scored 15 points off 14 Madison Central turnovers. Madison Central shot 38.9% from the field including seven of 19 from beyond the arc. The Indians connected on five of six free throws, pulled down 26 rebounds, and scored 11 points off 14 Western Hills turnovers.
Maddie LeCompte led Western Hills with 21 points including nine of 11 free throws, five rebounds, four assists, and five steals. LeCompte also reached the 1,000 points plateau in today’s game. Lauren McGaughey added eight points and eight rebounds. Kiana Mitchell recorded eight points, five rebounds, and two assists. Kellen Kilgore also scored eight points.
Brianna Bierbaum led Madison Central with 16 points including five three point baskets and four steals. Jekauri McKeithen added 14 points and nine rebounds. Taleya Todd recorded 10 points, six rebounds, five assists, and two steals.
