Eastern Illinois University coach Jay Spoonhour started the following lineup: 6-5 Jr. George Dixon, 6-5 Sr. JaQualis Matlock, 6-6 Jr. Marvis Johnson, 6-2 Jr. Mack Smith, and 6-4 Jr. Josiah Wallace. Eastern Kentucky University coach AW Hamilton countered with 6-7 Fr. Michael Moreno, 6-3 Sr. Ty Taylor, 6-8 So. Tre King, 6-0 Jr. Russhard Cruickshank, and 6-2 Jr. JacQuess Hobbs.
Eastern Kentucky University led by 18 points in the first half but had to rally from a four point deficit late in the game to earn a 77-74 victory over Eastern Illinois University. 6-2 So. Jomaru Brown led Eastern Kentucky University with 24 points, three rebounds, and three steals. Ty Taylor added 17 points including two three point baskets and seven of nine free throws. 6-9 Sr. Lachlan Anderson recorded 13 points and six rebounds. Michael Moreno pulled down nine rebounds.
Josiah Wallace led Eastern Illinois University with 16 points, five rebounds, and three assists. George Dixon added 15 points, 11 rebounds, two assists, two blocked shots, and two steals. Marvin Johnson recorded 15 points including five of five free throws, nine rebounds, three assists, and two blocked shots. Mack Smith chipped in with 13 points, three rebounds, and three blocked shots.
