SIU Edwardsville coach Brian Barone started the following lineup: 6-7 Jr. Zeke Moore, 6-7 Jr. Shamar Wright, 6-7 Sr. Anselm Uzuegbunem, 5-10 Sr. Tyresse Williford, and 6-2 So. Cam Williams.  Eastern Kentucky University coach AW Hamilton countered with 6-7 Fr. Michael Moreno, 6-3 Sr. Ty Taylor, 6-8 So. Tre King, 6-0 Jr. Russhard Cruickshank, and 6-2 Jr. JacQuess Hobbs.

Eastern Kentucky connected on their free throws in the closing seconds to ensure a 78-72 victory over SIU Edwardsville.  The score was tied five times and there were 12 lead changes in the game.  The victory did not come easy as SIU Edwardsville led by nine points in the first half and held a lead for 23:29 minutes of the game.  Eastern Kentucky University shot 38.6% from the field including seven of 23 from the three point line.  The Colonels connected on 27 of 35 free throws, pulled down 32 rebounds, and scored 16 points off 17 SIUE turnovers.  SIU Edwardsville shot 50% from the field including six of 16 from beyond the arc.  The Cougars connected on 16 of 25 free throws, pulled down 34 rebounds, and scored eight points off 10 Eastern Kentucky turnovers.

6-2 So. Jomaru Brown led Eastern Kentucky with 20 points including seven of 13 free throws and four steals.  Michael Moreno added 14 points including three three point baskets and eight rebounds.  6-9 Sr. Lachlan Anderson recorded 14 points including seven of eight free throws and nine rebounds.  Tre King chipped in with 12 points, four rebounds, and two steals.  Russhard Cruickshank added nine points including four of four free throws and six assists.

Tyresse Williford led SIUE with 20 points, six rebounds, and five assists.  Zeke Moore added 17 points including four three point baskets.  Cam Williams recorded 10 points, five rebounds, four assists, and two steals.  6-7 Sr. Brandon Jackson added 10 points including four of four free throws and four rebounds.
