Madison Southern coach Austin Newton started the following lineup: 6-1 Sr. Chad Fugate, 6-0 Sr. Samuel Lee, 6-4 So. Nate Turner, 5-4 Sr. Colby Sebastian, and 5-11 Sr. Hunter Buchanan.  George Rogers Clark coach Josh Cook countered with 6-4 Jr. Jared Wellman, 6-3 So. Jerone Morton, 6-7 Sr. Lincoln Bush, 5-10 Sr. KJ Rucker, and 6-1 So. Jeremiah Mundy-Lloyd.

 

George Rogers Clark recorded a double overtime 72-70 victory over Madison Southern in their first game in their new gymnasium.  Madison Southern had two shots from the three point line with seconds to go but neither connected allowing GRC to earn the victory.  The score was tied 10 ties and there were 11 lead changes.  GRC shot 50% from the field including six of 16 from the three point line.  The Cardinals connected on 20 of 31 free throws, pulled down 41 rebounds, and scored 10 points off 14 Madison Southern turnovers.  Madison Southern shot 42.9% from the field including 10 of 26 from beyond the arc.  The Eagles connected on 18 of 24 free throws, pulled down 18 rebounds, and scored 25 points off 22 GRC turnovers.

 

Lincoln Bush proved to be a difficult matchup in the paint with his athleticism, height, and length, and led the Cardinals with 22 points, 13 rebounds, and three assists.  Jared Wellman added 18 points including five three point baskets and four rebounds.  KJ Rucker recorded 11 points, five rebounds, and five assists.  KJ Rucker and Jared Wellman fouled out for the Cardinals.

 

Hunter Buchanan led Madison Southern with 23 points including seven three point baskets.  Chad Fugate added 22 points including eight of nine free throws.  Nate Turner recorded 12 points including two three point baskets and five rebounds.  Nate Turner, Colby Sebastian, and Chad Fugate all fouled out.
