Madison Central vs. Garrard County (Girls)

Madison Central coach Brad Lovely started the following lineup: 5-10 Jr. Gretchen Hammitt, 5-9 Sr. Taleya Todd, 5-11 Sr. Jekauri McKeithen, 5-4 Fr. Eve Carter, and 5-5 Jr. Brianna Bierbaum.  Garrard County coach Jimmy McCulley countered with 5-7 Sr. Brittany Butner, 5-6 Sr. Madisyn Neeley, 5-10 So. Jade Pevley, 5-4 Sr. Nancy Gonzalez, and 5-5 Sr. Nancy Gonzalez.

 

Garrard County trailed 22-19 at halftime but outscored Madison Central 40-21 in the second half to earn a 59-43 victory over the Indians.  There were five ties and four lead changes in the game.  Garrard County shot 37% from the field including six of 18 from the three point line.  The Golden Lions connected on 19 of 22 free throws, pulled down 37 rebounds, and scored 13 points off 16 Madison Central turnovers.  Madison Central shot 29.3% from the field including zero of eight from beyond the arc.  The Indians connected on 19 of 30 free throws, pulled down 30 rebounds, and scored 15 points off 11 Garrard County turnovers.

 

Carolina Gonzalez led Garrard County with 19 points including three three point baskets, two rebounds, three assists, and three steals.  Nancy Gonzalez added 15 points, six rebounds, and two steals.  Brittany Butner recorded 11 points including three three point baskets and eight rebounds.  Jade Pevley added 10 points, eight rebounds, two assists, and two steals.

 

Taleya Todd led Madison Central with 18 points including six of eight free throws, four rebounds, and two steals.  Eve Carter added 10 points including six of nine free throws, three rebounds, and four steals.  Jekauri McKeithen recorded nine points, 12 rebounds, two blocked shots and two steals.  McKeithen also reached the 1,000 point scoring plateau tonight.
