John Hardin coach Jared McCurry started the following lineup: 6-6 Sr. Alex Matthews, 6-4Sr. Trevon Harris, 6-9 Sr. Preston Murrell, 5-6 Sr. Deventa Stone, and 5-9 So. Devon Rogers.  Henry Clay coach Daniel Brown countered with 6-2 Sr. Marques Warrick, 6-1 Sr. Sebian Dillard, 6-6 Sr. Jackson Phillips, 5-7 Sr.Terron Hughes, and 6-0 Sr. Marquis Mackey.

 

Henry Clay defeated John Hardin 66-59 in a victory that was widely considered to be an upset as John Hardin had been ranked number one in the state in some polls.  The score was tied seven times and there were several lead changes in the game.  Henry Clay shot 51% from the field including six of 16 from the three point line.  The Blue Devils connected on 10 of 11 free throws, pulled down 27 rebounds, and scored 14 points off 10 John Hardin turnovers.  John Hardin shot 46.5% from the field including two of 12 from beyond the arc.  They connected on 17 of 24 from the three point line, pulled down 23 rebounds, and scored 11 points off 10 Henry Clay turnovers.

 

Marques Warrick led Henry Clay with 33 points including four of five free throws, five rebounds, and three assists.  Marquis Mackey added 21 points including three three point baskets and three rebounds.  Sebian Dillard recorded seven points, six rebounds, three assists, and two steals.

 

Alex Matthews led John Hardin with 21 points, 11 rebounds, two assists, and two steals.  Preston Murrell added 15 points, six rebounds, and two assists.  Devon Rogers recorded nine points including four of four free throws.
