11th Region Girls Championship

Scott County coach Steve Helton started the following lineup: 6-0 Jr. Kenady Tompkins. 6-0 Jr. Kaylie Wise, 6-3 Sr. Malea Williams, 5-5 Sr. Morgan DeFoor, and 5-6 So. Emma Price.  Franklin County coach Joey Thacker countered with 5-11 So. Jazmin Chambers. 5-4 Sr. Lakin Hamblin, 6-0 So. Gracie Thacker, 5-6 Jr. Brooklynn Miles, and 5-6Sr. Jasmine Simpson.

 

Franklin County utilized their team speed and managed to hit enough free throws down the stretch to offset a late rally by Scott County.  The score was tied five times and there were four lead changes in the game.  Franklin County shot 43.9% from the field including three of eight from the three point line.  The Lady Flyers connected on 18 of 33 free throws, pulled down 38 rebounds, and scored 12 points off nine Scott County turnovers.  Scott County shot 32.2% from the field including nine of 29 from beyond the arc.  The Lady Cardinals connected on six of 12 free throws, pulled down 40 rebounds, and scored four points off nine Franklin County turnovers.

 

Brooklynn Miles led Franklin County with 20 points including 12 of 22 from the free throw line, three rebounds, and six assists.  Lakin Hamblin added eight points including two three point baskets, three rebounds, and two assists.  5-5 So. Shavi Kennedy recorded eight points and three rebounds.  5-10 So. Patience Laster chipped in with seven points, eight rebounds, and three steals.  Jazmin Chambers added seven points and five rebounds.  5-2 So. Nevaeh Carter recorded seven points and six rebounds.

 

Morgan DeFoor led Scott County with 19 points including four three point baskets, four rebounds, and three assists.  Malea Williams added 15 points and 17 rebounds.  Kenady Tompkins recorded eight points,, seven rebounds, and two assists.  Emma Price chipped in with six points on two three point baskets.
