Scott County coach Tim Glenn started the following lineup: 6-4 Jr. Elias Richardson, 6-1 Sr. Mikaleb Coffey, 6-6 Sr. Terrin Hamilton, 5-10 Jr. Chase Grigsby, and 6-0 Sr. Aaron Leake.  Lexington Catholic coach Brandon Salsman countered with 6-4 Sr. Peyton Pelphrey, 6-3 Sr. Luke Wedding, 6-2 Sr. Jackson Smith, 6-2 So. Jack Gohmann, and 6-2 Jr. Ben Johnson.

 

Scott County defeated Lexington Catholic by the score of 65-62 in what has to be considered a major upset.  Scott County entered the game at 18-16 while Lexington Catholic had cruised through the season with a 31-2 slate.  Scott County had an excellent game plan and executed it flawlessly with Mikaleb Coffey playing excellent defense and the Cardinals holding Ben Johnson to 23 points on nine of 29 from the field and three of five from the free throw line.  Scott County was also hot from the field (54.3%) and hit some timely three point baskets to set the tempo for the game.  There were eight ties and 12 lead changes in the game.

 

Scott County shot 54.3% from the field including seven of 13 from the three point line.  The Cardinals connected on 20 of 28 free throws, pulled down 29 rebounds, and scored four points off three Lexington Catholic turnovers.  Lexington Catholic shot 38.7% from the field including five of 23 from beyond the arc.  The Knights connected on nine of 14 free throws, pulled down 32 rebounds, and scored 11 points off 11 Scott County turnovers.

 

Tournament MVP Terrin Hamilton led Scott County with 23 points including two three point baskets, seven of 12 free throws, 10 rebounds, two assists, and two blocked shots.  Chase Grigsby added 12 points including two three point baskets and four of four free throws.  Mikaleb Coffey recorded 10 points, four rebounds, five assists, and blocked two shots. Aaron Leake and Elias Richardson chipped in with nine points and eight points respectively.

 

Ben Johnson led Lexington Catholic with 23 points, seven rebounds, four assists, and three steals.  Luke Wedding added 11 points and three rebounds.  Jackson Smith recorded six points, seven rebounds, and three assists.  Jack Gohmann and 6-1 Sr. Ian Rothbaur each scored eight points.
