Doss (30-5) vs. Paul Laurence Dunbar (32-6) (Championship)

 

Doss coach Tony Williams started the following lineup: 6-5 Sr. Kelshawn Knight-Goff, 6-3 Sr. Laron Hargrove, 6-5 Jr. Jaylon Hall, 6-0 So. Stephon Franklin, and 6-4 Sr. Kenyi Bryant.  Paul Laurence Dunbar coach Scott Chalk countered with 6-4 St. Darius Williams, 6-3 Sr. Justin Kelley, 6-5 Jr. Dontell Brown, 6-0 Sr. Jordan Lewis, and 6-3 Jr. Taveion Hollingsworth. 

 

Paul Laurence Dunbar raced out of the gate early and led throughout the game increasing their margin to 21 points early in the final quarter before Doss rallied to draw within nine points; 61-52 at the end of the game.  Dunbar controlled the offensive boards holding a 15-3 advantage in second chance points.  Dunbar shot 43.6% from the field including two of six from the three point line.  The Bulldogs connected on 25 of 38 free throws, pulled down 31 rebounds, and scored 15 points off 14 Doss turnovers.  Dunbar committed 19 fouls with Jordan Lewis fouling out of the game.  Doss shot 40.9% from the field including three of 11 from beyond the arc.  The Dragons connected on 13 of 19 free throws, pulled down 21 rebounds, and scored 18 points off 19 Dunbar turnovers.  Doss committed 33 fouls with Laron Hargrove, Kelshawn Knight-Goff, Stephon Franklin, and Jaylon Hall fouling out of the game.

 

Taveion Hollingsworth led Dunbar with 20 points including two three point baskets and eight rebounds.  Darius Williams added 15 points and four rebounds.  Dontell Brown recorded 11 points and eight rebounds.  Jordan Lewis chipped in with nine points and three rebounds.

 

Kenyi Bryant led Doss with 23 points including six of six free throws.  Kelshawn Knight-Goff added 11 points and three blocked shots.  Laron Hargrove pulled down six rebounds.
