Covington Catholic vs. Scott County (Championship)

 

Covington Catholic coach Scott Ruthsatz started the following lineup: 6-3 Sr. AJ Mayer, 6-4 Sr. CJ Fredrick, 7-1 Sr. Jake Walter, 5-10 Sr. Aiden Ruthsatz, and 6-0 Sr. Casey Nowak.  Scott County coach Billy Hicks countered with 6-2 Sr. Cooper Robb, 6-1 Jr. Bryce Long, 6-7 Jr. Michael Moreno, 5-9 Jr. Diablo Stewart, and 5-11 Jr. Glenn Covington. 

 

Covington completed their impressive tournament run with a 73-55 victory over Scott County and the tournament championship.  The score was tied once and there were six lead changes in the game.  Covington Catholic shot 63.6% from the field including six of 11 from the three point line.  The Colonels connected on 25 of 32 free throws, pulled down 28 rebounds, and scored 11 points off nine Scott County turnovers.  Scott County shot 36% from the field including seven of 24 from beyond the arc.  The Cardinals connected on 12 of 18 free throws, pulled down 22 rebounds, and scored 16 points off 11 Covington Catholic turnovers.  Scott County held a 19-3 advantage on second chance points.

 

CJ Fredrick led Covington Catholic with 32 points including four three point baskets, 10 of 11 free throws, and three assists.  Aiden Ruthsatz added 16 points including five of five free throws, and five assists.  AJ Mayer recorded 12 points and eight rebounds.

 

Cooper Robb led Scott County with 22 points including four three point baskets, six of eight free throws and four rebounds.  Michael Moreno added 21 points and eight rebounds.  Diablo Stewart recorded 10 points including three three point baskets.
