Rose Hill Christian (27-7) vs. Lexington Catholic (34-1) (Championship)

 

Rose Hill Christian coach Pam Euton started the following lineup: 6-0 Jr. Emily Queen, 5-1 Sr. Katy Spradlin, 6-0 Jr. Laura Terry, 5-7 Jr. Britt Faulkner, and 5-8 Sr. Kala Faulkner.  Lexington Catholic coach Greg Todd countered with 5-10 So. Natalie Novosel, 5-7 So. Brianna Green, 6-0 Sr. Anaris Sickles, 5-7 Jr. Keyla Snowden, and 5-8 Sr. Nikki Davis.

 

Rose Hill made a valiant effort tonight but ultimately succumbed to a powerful Lexington Catholic squad by a score of 69-52.  The Lady Royals lost to Lexington Catholic by 30 points in a regular season game but was within 10 with under four minutes left in the game before the Lady Knights pulled away for the victory and championship.  Lexington Catholic shot a blistering 60.9% from the field including six of 11 from beyond the arc to take a 37-27 lead to the locker room at halftime.

 

Lexington Catholic shot 54.3% from the field including eight of 16 from the three point line.  The Lady Knights connected on 11 of 16 free throws, pulled down 32 rebounds, and scored 10 points off 12 Rose Hill turnovers.  Rose Hill shot 34.8% from the field including eight of 20 from beyond the arc.  The Lady Royals connected on 12 of 17 free throws. pulled down 24 rebounds, and scored nine points off 13 Lexington Catholic turnovers.

 

Briana Green, Keyla Snowden, and Natalie Novosel led a balanced Lexington Catholic scoring attack with 15 points each.  Novosel and Anaris Sickles each pulled down eight rebounds.  5-11 Jr. Kellie Cash came off the bench to score 12 points on four of four from beyond the arc.  Nikki Davis chipped in with five points, five rebounds, and six assists.  Laura Terry continued her superb tourney run, leading Rose Hill with 21 points.  Kala Faulkner added 15 points.  Emily Queen chipped in with nine points and 15 rebounds.
