Sacred Heart Academy (36-1) vs. Lexington Catholic (29-7) (Championship)

 

Sacred Heart Academy coach Donna Moir started the following lineup: 5-10 Jr. Taylor Kopple, 5-8 Jr. Jackie Distler, 6-3 Sr. Crystal Kelly, 5-4 Jr. Jordan Hess, and 5-8 Jr. Carly Ormerod.  Lexington Catholic coach Greg Todd countered with 6-0 So. Anaris Sickles, 5-8 Jr. Lesley Server, 6-1 Jr. Shannon Novosel, 5-7 Fr. Keyla Snowden, and 5-8 So. Nikki Davis.

 

Sacred Heart Academy overcame a slow pace and an early 15-9 deficit to defeat Lexington Catholic 43-32 and claim their third consecutive state championship.  Sacred Heart went on an 8-0 run in the second quarter to lead 17-15 at halftime.  Sacred Heart led 27-19 in the third quarter but Lexington Catholic scored the last four points of the quarter to trail 27-23 entering the final quarter.  Lexington Catholic closed to within two; 27-25 but could never catch up and Sacred Heart pulled away for the win.

 

The victors were led by Carly Ormerod with 18 points and four steals.  Crystal Kelly added 12 points, pulled down nine rebounds, and recorded four steals.  Shannon Novosel led Lexington Catholic with 12 points and 10 rebounds.  Anaris Sickles added nine points and pulled down five rebounds.
