Southwestern defeated Whitley County by the score of 42-15. Southwestern recorded 21 first downs and 495 yards of total offense. The Warriors were penalized 10 times for 105 yards and lost a fumble. Whitley County recorded 13 first downs and 297 yards of total offense. The Colonels were penalized three times for 25 yards, lost two fumbles, and had a pass intercepted.
Giddeon Brainard led Southwestern’s ground game with 119 yards and a touchdown on six carries. Tanner Wright carried the ball 13 times for 84 yards and two touchdowns. Christian Walden added 73 yards on six carries. Connor Crisp chipped in with 68 yards on eight carries. JJ Hutchinson added 45 yards and two touchdowns on four carries. Ethan Ware recorded 55 yards on four carries. Chanler Crabtree completed five of nine passes for 65 yards and a touchdown. Maison Hibbard caught two passes for 42 yards and a touchdown. Maison Hibbard returned one punt for 37 yards. Tanner Wright intercepted a pass.
Brian Leach led Whitley County’s ground game with six times for 32 yards. Caden Petrey completed 13 of 22 passes for 219 yards and a touchdown with one interception. Aaron Steely caught four passes for 72 yards. Sam Harp added three receptions for 72 yards and a touchdown. Bryson Potter caught one pass for 38 yards. Tye Hamblin returned two punts for 34 yards. Tye Hamblin returned three kickoffs for 45 yards. Chase Pennington recovers a fumble for a touchdown.
