Owensboro defeated Frederick Douglass by the score of 28-27.  Owensboro got off to a fast start as Kenyatta Carbon intercepted Frederick Douglass’ pass on their first play from scrimmage and returned it 44 yards for a touchdown.  Their woes continued as Owensboro raced out to a 21-0 lead early in the second quarter.  The Broncos battled back to tie the game at 21-21 with 8:10 to go in the game on a 27 yard run by Darius Neal and a conversion kick by Cooper Ranvier.  Frederick Douglass then took the lead on a 27 yard pass from Samuel Cornett to Dekel Crowdus but the kick was missed leaving the Broncos with a 27-21 lead.  Gavin Wimsatt connected on a 7 yard pass to Ethan Avery and Andrew Lanz kicked the extra point to give the Red Devils a 28-27 lead with less than two minutes on the clock.  Frederick Douglass had one more opportunity but on a 4th-and-inches from the 10 yard line they elected to go for a 27 yard field goal but it was wide and Owensboro held on for the victory.

Owensboro recorded 260 yards of total offense and had two passes intercepted.  Frederick Douglass recorded 377 yards of total offense and had two passes intercepted.

Gavin Wimsatt led Owensboro’s ground game with 75 yards on 18 carries.  Ethan Avery carried the ball 13 times for 32 yards.  Gavin Wimsatt completed 17 of 32 passes for 144 yards and three touchdowns with two interceptions.  Treyvon Tinsley caught seven passes for 75 yards and a touchdown.  Ethan Avery added four receptions for 20 yards and a touchdown.  Steven Stevenson recorded three receptions for 18 yards and a touchdown.  Austin Gough led the defense with four solo and seven assisted tackles.  Zachary Clark added three solo and four assisted tackles.  Kenyatta Carbon recorded four assisted tackles and returned an interception for 44 yards and a touchdown.  Javius Taylor also intercepted a pass.

Darius Neal led Frederick Douglass’ ground game with 116 yards and two touchdowns on 21 carries.  Samuel Cornett completed 18 of 25 passes for 252 yards and two touchdowns with two interceptions.  Dane Key caught seven passes for 147 yards and a touchdown.  Dekel Crowdus added six receptions for 66 yards and a touchdown.  Cameron Dunn recorded 33 yards on four receptions.  Jaden Johnson led the defense with seven solo and two assisted tackles.  Kwahlie Coffman added five solo and one assisted tackles.  Eli Clinkscale recorded four solo and one assisted tackles.  Davis Joiner chipped in with four solo tackles.  Caden Johnson intercepted a pass he returned 25 yards.  Isaiah Kenney also intercepted a pass.
