Madison Central vs. Menifee County (Girls)

Madison central coach Brad Lovely started the following lineup: 5-11 Sr. Raelynn Miller, 5-7 So. Chloe Freeman, 5-11 Sr. Gretchen Hammitt, 5-4 So. Eve Carter, and 5-5 Sr. Brianna Bierbaum.  Menifee County coach Paul Ricker countered with 5-9 So. Cali Wells, 5-9 Jr. Hannah Harris, 6-1 Sr. Kelsie Woodard, 5-6 So. Taylor Parks, and 5-8 So. Morgan Wells.

 

Madison Central scratched and clawed their way to a 48-40 victory on the road at Menifee County in a game that had five ties and 10 lead changes.  The Indians recorded 19 steals and scored 23 points off 29 Menifee County turnovers.  While Madison Central was not able to stop Menifee County’s talented center Kelsie Woodard they were able to limit her effectiveness on offense with a swarming defense and collapsing on her with double and triple teams when she got the ball.  Madison Central shot 33.9% from the field including six of 13 from the three point line.  The Indians connected on four of nine free throws, and pulled down 26 rebounds.  Menifee County shot 30.8% from the field including four of 17 from beyond the arc.  The Lady Cats connected on 12 of 19 free throws, pulled down 44 rebounds, and scored eight points off 13 Madison Central turnovers.

 

Eve Carter led Madison Central with 17 points including two three point baskets, four rebounds, four assists, and seven steals.  Chloe Freeman added 11 points including three three point baskets and three rebounds.  Gretchen Hammitt chipped in with seven points.  5-10 Fr. Bailey Hensley recorded five points and five rebounds.

 

5-6 8th Grade Shalyne Baker led Menifee County with 10 points including five of six free throws.  Kelsie Woodard added eight points, 15 rebounds, five assists, and four blocked shots.  5-3 8th Grade Jaycee Gevedon recorded eight points including two three point baskets.  Morgan Wells recorded four points, 12 rebounds, and three blocked shots.
