Covington Catholic vs. North Laurel (Boys)

Covington Catholic coach Scott Ruthsatz started the following lineup: 6-6 So. Chandler Starks, 6-4 Sr. Donovan Stocks, 6-5 Jr. Colin McHale, 5-9 So. Evan Isparo, and 6-3 Jr. Walker Horn.  North Laurel coach Nate Valentine countered with 6-2 Jr. Caden Harris, 6-1 Sr. Nate Bruner, 6-4 So. Ryan Davidson,  5-11 Jr. Clay Sizemore, and 6-3 So. Reed Sheppard.

 

Clay Sizemore hit a three point basket with seconds remaining in overtime to give North Laurel an 89-87 victory over Covington Catholic.  There were eight ties and five lead changes in the game.  North Laurel shot 61.1% from the field including eight of 20 from the three point line.  The Jaguars connected on 15 of 20 free throws, pulled down 28 rebounds, and scored 26 points off 19 Covington Catholic turnovers.  Covington Catholic shot 50% from the field including six of 27 from beyond the arc.  The Colonels connected on 29 rebounds, and scored 25 points off 24 North Laurel turnovers.

 

Reed Sheppard led North Laurel with 45 points including three three point baskets, 10 of 11 free throws, 12 rebounds, four assists, and six steals.  Clay Sizemore added 18 points including four three point baskets.  Ryan Davidson recorded 16 points and three rebounds. 

 

Chandler Starks led Covington Catholic with 29 points, 10 rebounds, two assists, and two steals.  6-7 Jr. Mitchell Rylee added 20 points, seven rebounds, and two steals.  Evan Isparo recorded 14 points, four rebounds, and two steals.  Donovan Stocks chipped in with 12 points, four assists, and five steals.
