Covington Catholic coach Scott Ruthsatz started the following lineup: 6-6 So. Chandler Starks, 6-5 Jr. Colin McHale, 6-7 Jr. Mitchell Rylee, 5-9 So. Evan Ipsaro, and 6-3 Jr. Walker Horn. DeSales coach Damian Anderson countered with 6-3 So. Keith Robinson, 6-1 Jr. Brady Monks, 6-8 Sr. Sekou Kalle, 5-8 Sr. Devin Perry, and 5-10 Jr. Carter Bischoff.
Covington Catholic defeated Louisville DeSales by the score of 68-62. Covington Catholic shot 55.3% from the field including one of five from the three point line. The Colonels connected on 15 of 21 free throws, pulled down 33 rebounds, and committed 16 turnovers. DeSales shot 43.9% from the field including six of 16 from beyond the arc. They connected on six of 11 free throws, pulled down 21 rebounds, and committed 14 turnovers.
Mitchell Rylee led Covington Catholic with 24 points, 13 rebounds, and four assists. Evan Ipsaro added 22 points, five assists, and two steals. Ipsaro was nine of 10 from the field and four of four free throws. 6-4 Sr. Donovan Stocks recorded seven points, three rebounds, two assists, and two steals. Walker Horn chipped in with seven points, two assists, and two steals. Chandler Starks recorded two points, 12 rebounds, and three assists.
Sekou Kalle led DeSales with 29 points and 13 rebounds. Devin Perry added nine points, two rebounds, five assists, and three steals. Carter Bischoff recorded nine points including two three point baskets.
