Covington Catholic coach Scott Ruthsatz started the following lineup: 6-6 So. Chandler Starks, 6-4 Sr. Donovan Stocks, 6-7 Jr. Mitchell Rylee, 5-9 So. Evan Ipsaro, and 6-3 Jr. Walker Horn.  Trinity coach Mike Szabo countered with 6-2 Sr. Ethan Hodge, 6-1 Jr.Miles Franklin, 6-4 Sr. Will McMillan, 5-11 So. CJ Walls, and 5-11 Sr. Dudley Cox.

 

Covington Catholic outscored Trinity 17-9 in the third quarter to take a 42-36 lead then survived a furious Trinity rally to earn a 51-50 victory.  Covington Catholic shot a sizzling 61.8% from the field including four of seven from the three point line.  The Colonels connected on five of eight free throws, pulled down 21 rebounds, and committed 14 turnovers.  Trinity shot 41.5% from the field including seven of 14 from beyond the arc.  The Shamrocks connected on nine of 10 free throws, pulled down 14 rebounds, and committed 10 turnovers.

 

Evan Ipsaro led Covington Catholic with 14 points and four assists.  Ipsaro was six of seven from the field including one of one beyond the arc and one of two free throws.  Chandler Starks added 12 points, 11 rebounds, three assists, and two steals.  Mitchell Rylee recorded 11 points, three rebound, three assists, and three blocked shots.  Walker Horn chipped in with eight points including two three point baskets.

 

6-2 So. Cam McClain led Trinity with 13 points including three three point baskets.  Will McMillan added 12 points.  Ethan Hodge recorded nine points.  6-2 Sr. Zach Stahlman chipped in with eight points including four of four free throws and five rebounds.  CJ Walls also scored eight points including two three point baskets.
