Lexington Catholic coach Brandon Salsman started the following lineup: 6-5 Jr. Jack Gohmann, 6-2 So. Brody Turner, 6-1 Sr. Jack Clemmons, 5-11 Jr. Blake Busson, and 6-2 Sr. Ben Johnson.  (Lexington Catholic was missing three starters tonight).  Christian Academy of Louisville coach Aaron Hill countered with 6-4 Sr. Conner Haun, 6-3 Sr. Brayden Daniels, 6-4 Sr. Stephen Wearsch, 6-0 Sr. Tyler Lagestee, and 6-2 So. George Washington.

 

Lexington Catholic defeated Christian Academy of Louisville tonight by the score of 89-78.  Lexington Catholic’s Ben Johnson scored 51 points to pace the short handed Knights squad tonight.  They needed his performance to hold off a determined Centurion squad led by George Washington who tallied 36 points.  There were seven lead changes and five ties in this game.  Lexington Catholic shot 54.5% from the field including six of 11 from beyond the arc.  The Knights connected on 23 of 29 free throws, pulled down 37 rebounds, and scored six points off eight CAL turnovers.  CAL shot 39.5% from the field including three of 21 from beyond the arc.  The Centurions connected on 11 of 21 free throws, pulled down 48 rebounds, and scored 13 points off eight Lexington Catholic turnovers.  CAL attempted 26 more shots (81-55) from the field than Lexington Catholic.

 

Ben Johnson led Lexington Catholic with 51 points including five three point baskets, 18 of 19 free throws, 10 rebounds, five assists, and two steals.  Jack Gohmann added 15 points, five rebounds, and nine assists.  Blake Busson chipped in with eight points.

 

George Washington led CAL with 36 points including two three point baskets, six rebounds, and three assists.  Stephen Wearsch added 16 points, 12 rebounds, and four blocked shots.  Brayden Daniels chipped in with 12 points.  Conner Haun pulled down 14 rebounds and blocked two shots.  6-2 Fr. Cole Hodge added seven points, six rebounds, and three assists.
