Great Crossing vs. Frankfort (Girls)

Great Crossing coach Glenn Wilson Jr. started the following lineup: 5-9 Fr. Ava Schureman, 5-7 Jr. Rachel Smith, 6-0 Sr. Lauren Tucker, 5-1 Sr. Braylee McMath, and 5-4 Sr. Hailey Ward.  (Great Crossing were without the services of two starters tonight 6-0 So. Raegan Barrett and 5-7 Jr. Timothi Williams).  Frankfort coach Deron Norman countered with 5-9 Jr. Jamaya Chenault, 5-8 Sr. Haley Close, 5-10 Fr. Rachel Shropshire, 5-5 So. Rhealee Ellis, and 5-7 Sr. Brianna Walker.

 

The old saying in basketball is “next man up” when you are playing short handed but tonight it was “next woman up” as Hailey Ward entered the starting lineup and led Great Crossing to a 61-51 victory over Frankfort with 19 points including five three point baskets and seven rebounds.  Great Crossing shot 46.4% from the field including nine of 29 from the three point line.  The Warhawks were zero of six from the free throw line, pulled down 27 rebounds, and scored 14 points off 16 Frankfort turnovers.  Frankfort shot 43.2% from the field including four of eight from beyond the arc.  The Lady Panthers connected on 15 of 22 free throws, pulled down 27 rebounds, and scored seven points off 10 Great Crossing turnovers.

 

Hailey Ward led Great Crossing with 19 points including five three point baskets and seven rebounds.  Braylee McMath added 16 points, five rebounds, six assists, and two steals.  Rachel Smith recorded nine points.  Ava Schureman also scored nine points, pulled down five rebounds, and recorded two steals.

 

Jamaya Chenault led Frankfort with 17 points, four rebounds, and two steals.  Rachel Shropshire added 13 points including seven of eight free throws, and seven rebounds.  Haley Close recorded 10 points including three three point baskets and four rebounds.  Brianna Walker chipped in with six points and six rebounds.
