Frederick Douglass vs. Scott County (Girls)

Frederick Douglass coach Daryl Moberly started the following lineup: 5-9 Jr. Allison Wallace, 5-5 Sr. Kourtesy Lee, 6-0 Fr. Ayanna-Sarai Darrington, 5-0 Sr. Shania Mayes, and 5-5 Sr. Kasia Parks.  Scott County coach Steve Helton countered with 6-0 Sr. Kaylie Wise, 5-7 Jr. Brianna Kenney, 6-0 Sr. Kenady Tompkins, 5-6 Fr.Maleiyah Moore, and 5-6 Jr. Emma Price.

 

Scott County scored 38 points off 36 Frederick Douglass turnovers, recorded 18 steals, and blocked five shots in a 75-65 victory.  Scott County led 46-21 at halftime but Frederick Douglass outscored the Lady Cardinals 44-29 in the second half but it was too little too late for the Lady Broncos.  Scott County shot 33.3% from the field including 10 of 31 from the three point line.  The Lady Cardinals connected on 17 of 23 free throws and pulled down 42 rebounds.  Frederick Douglass shot 45.1% from the field including four of 12 from beyond the arc.  The Lady Broncos connected on 15 of 30 free throws, pulled down 47 rebounds, and scored 17 points off 23 Scott County turnovers.

 

Emma Price led Scott County with 22 points including five three point baskets, three assists, and five steals.  Brianna Penney added 19 points including two three point baskets, four rebounds, two assists, and five steals.  Kenady Tompkins recorded 15 points, seven rebounds, two assists, two blocked shots, and three steals.  Kaylie Wise chipped in with eight points, 10 rebounds, and two blocked shots.  Maleiyah Moore added eight points including two three point baskets, eight rebounds, four assists, and two steals.

 

Ayanna-Sarai Darrington led Frederick Douglass with 24 points and 12 rebounds.  Darrington was 10 of 12 from the field and four of eight from the free throw line.  5-3 8th Grade Kate Baker added nine points on three three point baskets and three rebounds.  Kasia Parks recorded eight points, five rebounds, and five steals.  Kourtesy Lee chipped in with seven points and four rebounds.
