Scott County vs. Great Crossing (Girls)

Scott County coach Steve Helton started the following lineup: 6-0 Sr. Kaylie Wise, 5-7 Jr. Brianna Penney, 6-0 Sr. Kenady Tompkins, 5-6 Fr. Maleiyah Moore, and 5-6 Jr. Emma Price.  Great Crossing coach Glenn Wilson Jr. countered with 5-9 Fr. Ava Schureman, 5-7 Jr. Rachel Smith, 6-0 Sr. Lauren Tucker, 5-1 Sr. Braylee McMath, and 5-5 Sr. Hailey Ward.  (Great Crossing is without the services of starters 6-0 So. Raegan Barrett and 5-7 Jr. Timothi Williams).

 

Great Crossing captured the first victory in school history in girls basketball over Scott County with a 61-51 decision tonight.  Great Crossing held a 54-36 lead in the second half but Scott County closed out on a 15-7 to narrow the margin.  Great Crossing shot 30.1% from the field including seven of 30 from the three point line.  The Lady Warhawks connected on 10 of 18 free throws, pulled down 39 rebounds, and scored 20 points off 19 Scott County turnovers.  Scott County shot 34.9% from the field including three of 19 from beyond the arc.  The Lady Cardinals connected on four of six free throws, pulled down 51 rebounds, and scored four points off four Great Crossing turnovers.

 

Braylee McMath led Great Crossing with 22 points including two three point baskets, five rebounds, five assists, and two steals.  Rachel Smith added 14 points including two three point baskets, three rebounds, two assists, and three steals.  Ava Schureman recorded nine points, seven rebounds, and three steals.  Lauren Tucker chipped in with eight points and six rebounds.  Hailey Ward recorded six points, five rebounds, two assists, and two steals.

 

Kenady Tompkins led Scott County with 20 points and 20 rebounds.  Emma Price added 11 points, seven rebounds, and three assists.  Maleiyah Moore recorded 10 points and three rebounds.
