Madison Southern coach Austin Newton started the following lineup: 6-3 Sr. Trent DeVries, 6-1 So. Jay Rose, 6-4 So. Brett Erslan, 5-8 Jr. Walt Smith, and 5-9 Jr. Jayden Adams. Madison Central coach Allen Feldhaus Jr. countered with 6-6 So. Trey Skaggs, 6-4 Sr. Kole Browne, 6-4 Jr. Will Hardin, 6-0 Sr. Taishon Chenault, and 6-2 Sr. Braeden Ray.
Madison Central defeated Madison Southern in a come-from-behind victory by the score of 65-61. The score was tied six times and there were eight lead changes in this game. Madison Central shot 53.5% from the field including two of 11 from the three point line. The Indians connected on 17 of 22 free throws, pulled down 26 rebounds, and scored 15 points off 17 Madison Southern turnovers. Madison Southern shot 45.5% from the field including eight of 18 from beyond the arc. The Eagles connected on 13 of 19 free throws, pulled down 24 rebounds, and scored 21 points off 18 Madison Central turnovers.
Will Hardin had the hot hand tonight for the victors and tallied 25 points and three rebounds connecting on 11 of 13 from the field and three of four from the free throw line. Madison Central did an excellent job with interior passes to get Hardin the ball down low. Kole Browne added 16 points including two three point baskets, six rebounds, seven assists, and three steals. Braeden Ray recorded nine points including seven of nine free throws and four assists. 6-1 Fr. Kenyatta Hardge recorded nine points, six rebounds, and two assists.
Jay Rose led Madison Southern with 16 points including two three point baskets, four of five free throws, and three rebounds. Trent DeVries added 12 points including three three point baskets. Brett Erslan recorded 10 points including six of six free throws and seven rebounds despite only logging 12 minutes of playing time and fouling out. 5-7 So.Zach Hudson chipped in with nine points including two three point baskets. Jayden Adams added seven points, three rebounds, and two steals.
