Covington Catholic coach Scott Ruthsatz started the following lineup: 6-6 So. Chandler Starks, 6-5 Jr. Colin McHale, 6-7 Jr. Mitchell Rylee, 5-9 So. Evan Ipsaro, and 6-4 Sr. Donovan Stocks. Beechwood coach Erik Goetz countered with 6-2 Sr. Cameron Hergott, 6-1 Sr. Will Downton, 6-2 Sr. Cameron Decker, 5-10 So. Cameron Boyd, and 6-4 Sr. Scotty Draud.
Covington Catholic defeated Beechwood by a score of 75-61. Covington Catholic shot 47.9% from the field including eight of 17 from the three point line. The Colonels connected on 21 of 26 free throws, pulled down 34 rebounds, and committed 13 turnovers. Beechwood shot 42.9% from the field including nine of 25 from beyond the arc. The Tigers connected on four of nine free throws, pulled down 24 rebounds, and committed 12 turnovers.
Evan Ipsaro led Covington Catholic with 24 points including three three point baskets, seven of eight free throws, three rebounds, and four assists. Mitchell Rylee added 19 points including seven of eight free throws, 13 rebounds, two blocked shots, and three steals. Donovan Stocks recorded 10 points including four of four free throws, four assists, and two steals. 5-9 Sr. Reece Murphy chipped in with 10 points including two three point baskets. Chandler Starks recorded five points, 12 rebounds, and three assists.
Scotty Draud led Beechwood with 21 points, five rebounds, two assists, and four steals. Cameron Decker added 15 points including three three point baskets, three rebounds, and two assists. Cameron Boyd recorded 14 points including four three point baskets and four rebounds.
