Eastern Kentucky University coach Samantha Williams started the following lineup: 6-2 Sr. Jayla Johnson, 5-11 Sr. Bria Bass, 6-3 So. Emma Hacker, 5-9 Fr. Alice Recanati, and 5-10 Fr. Kendall Wingler. Southeast Missouri coach Rekha Patterson countered with 5-8 So. Sophia Bussard, 5-10 Jr. Deanay Watson, 6-4 Sr. LaTrese Saine, 5-6 Jr. Taelour Pruitt, and 5-7 Jr. Terri Smith.
Eastern Kentucky University led from horn to horn in an 82-72 victory over Southeast Missouri. The Colonels offense was buoyed by some hot shooting tonight as they were 52.1% from the field and 84.4% from the charity stripe. Eastern Kentucky shot 52.1% from the field including five of 11 from the three point line. The Colonels connected on 27 of 32 free throws, pulled down 28 rebounds, and scored 17 points off 15 SEMO turnovers. SEMO shot 41% from the field including four of 18 from beyond the arc. The Redhawks connected on 18 of 26 free throws, pulled down 38 rebounds, and scored 20 points off 13 Eastern Kentucky turnovers.
Kendall Wingler led Eastern Kentucky with 20 points including two three point baskets, six of six free throws, three rebounds, two assists, and two steals. Jayla Johnson added 14 points, three rebounds, and two assists. Alice Recanati recorded 13 points including nine of 11 free throws and eight assists. 6-1 So. Anysa Jorrdan chipped in with 13 points and four rebounds. Bria Bass recorded 11 points including four of four free throws, six rebounds, two assists, and two steals.
5-10 Sr. Tesia Thompson led SEMO with 31 points including seven of eight free throws, 11 rebounds, and two assists. 5-8 So. Roshala Scott added 16 points including two three point baskets,. Deanay Watson recorded eight points and nine rebounds.
