Sayre coach Robert Goodman started the following lineup: 6-4 Jr. Cole Pennington, 6-3 Sr. Cory Givens, 6-6 Jr. Sam Lain, 6-0 Jr. Dant Bowling, and 6-0 Jr. Zander Collett. Bryan Station coach Nimbo Hammons countered with 6-3 Jr. Terik Mulder, 6-1 Sr. Pierre Petit Frere, 6-4 Jr. Cedric Poindexter, 6-0 Sr. Myles Morones, and 6-0 Sr. Trent Grundy.
Zander Collett hit a basket in the closing seconds to give Sayre a 56-55 victory over Bryan Station. The score was tied twice and there were five lead changes in this game. Sayre led 44-29 in the third quarter but had to survive a furious Bryan Station rally to earn the victory. Sayre shot 43.2% from the field including three of nine from the three point line. The Spartans connected on 21 of 29 free throws, pulled down 27 rebounds, and scored nine points off 16 Bryan Station turnovers. Bryan Station shot 34.5% from the field including three of 19 from beyond the arc. The Defenders connected on 14 of 22 free throws, pulled down 32 rebounds, and scored 19 points off 21 Sayre turnovers.
Dant Bowling led Sayre with 13 points including two three point baskets, three rebounds, and two steals. Zander Collett added 13 points, two rebounds, and two steals. Cory Givens recorded 12 points on 12 of 16 free throws and eight rebounds. 6-1 Sr. Ford Webb chipped in with nine points and two steals.
Trent Grundy led Bryan Station with 17 points including two three point baskets, five of eight free throws, and five rebounds. 5-8 Jr. J’Marious Lindsay added 12 points including four of five free throws, two rebounds, three assists, and two steals. Myles Morones recorded 10 points, three rebounds, and three steals. 6-6 So. Jayden Biggers chipped in with five points and 10 rebounds.
