This game was billed as arguably the game between the best two teams in the district with the winner expected to win the district and it lived up to its billing.  Madison Southern pulled away late to earn a 46-41 victory but nothing came easy for either team.  Madison Southern jumped out to a 13-4 first quarter lead and Berea PG Mati Stepp was plagued with foul woes all night and finally fouled out.  Berea battled back and actually took a 35-31 lead in the final quarter but Madison Southern closed out the game with a 15-6 run.  Madison Southern led 42-41 but missed some free throws late but some key offensive rebounds by the Lady Eagles helped close the door on Berea’s chances.  There were four ties and four lead changes in the game.

Madison Southern shot 34% from the field including two of 12 from the three point line.  The Lady Eagles connected on 12 of 24 free throws, pulled down 38 rebounds, and committed nine turnovers.  Berea shot 31.7% from the field including four of 13 from beyond the arc.  The Lady Pirates connected on 11 of 19 free throws, pulled down 33 rebounds, and committed nine turnovers.
