9th Region Basketball Tournament (Quarterfinal)

St. Henry coach David Faust started the following lineup: 6-3 Sr. Wyatt Vieth, 6-2 Sr. Jude Bessler, 6-4 Sr. Cody Teeten, 5-8 Sr. Cory Shea, and 5-10 Sr. Ryan Butler.  Covington Catholic coach Scott Ruthsatz countered with 6-6 So. Chandler Starks, 6-5 Jr. Colin McHale, 6-7 Jr. Mitchell Rylee, 5-9 So. Evan Ipsaro, and 6-4 Sr. Donovan Stocks.

 

Covington Catholic missed some late opportunities down the stretch (missed layup and front end of a one-and-one) and had an Evan Ipsaro shot blocked at the buzzer and St. Henry escaped with a 61-60 victory to give the Crusaders their second victory this season over Covington Catholic.  St. Henry shot 46% from the field including six of 15 from the three point line.  The Crusaders connected on nine of 13 free throws, pulled down 23 rebounds, and committed 14 turnovers.  Covington Catholic shot 55.8% from the field including five of 11 from beyond the arc.  The Colonels connected on seven of 10 free throws, pulled down 25 rebounds, and committed 13 turnovers.

 

Cody Teeten led St. Henry with 16 points, eight rebounds, and three assists.  Wyatt Vieth added 15 points including four of five free throws, four assists, two blocked shots, and two steals.  Jude Bessler recorded 10 points, four rebounds, four assists, and two steals.  Cory Shea chipped in with 10 points including three three point baskets.

 

Evan Ipsaro led Covington Catholic with 32 points including three three point baskets and five of six free throws.  Mitchell Rylee added eight points, six rebounds, and three blocked shots.  Donovan Stocks recorded seven points, eight rebounds, two assists, and two steals.  Chandler Starks chipped in with six points, seven rebounds, and three blocked shots.
