2021 KHSAA Boys’ Sweet 16®

University Heights Academy coach Will Shouse started the following lineup: 5-11 Sr. DJ Quarles, 5-10 Jr. Amani McGee, 6-3 Sr. Edward Braxton, 5-9 Sr. KJ Crump, and 5-10 Jr. William Bryan.  Bowling Green coach DG Sherrill countered with 6-5 Sr. Jordan Dingle, 6-4 Sr. Jaxson Banks, 6-7 Sr. Jacobi Huddleston, 5-10 Jr. Tanner Buttry, and 6-4 Sr. Isaiah Mason.

 

Bowling Green used their size and athleticism to dominate in the paint (44-28) in an 85-57 victory over University Heights.  The score was tied three times and there were six lead changes early in the contest.  Bowling Green shot 50% from the field including nine of 18 from the three point line.  The Purples connected on 14 of 15 free throws, pulled down 49 rebounds, and scored 10 points off seven University Heights turnovers.  University Heights shot 34.4% from the field including five of 19 from beyond the arc.  The Blazers connected on eight of nine free throws, pulled down 25 rebounds, and scored 16 points off 13 Bowling Green turnovers.

 

Tanner Buttry led Bowling Green with 20 points including three three point baskets, five of six free throws, three rebounds, and four assists.  Buttry was six of eight from the field including three of four from beyond the arc, and five of six free throws.  Isaiah Mason added 16 points, six rebounds, and three assists.  Jacobi Huddleston recorded 14 points, 10 rebounds, and six assists.  Jaxson Banks chipped in with eight points including two three point baskets and five rebounds.  Jordan Dingle added four points and seven rebounds.  6-1 Sr. Conner Cooper recorded six points on two three point baskets and four assists.

 

KJ Crump led University Heights with 20 points including three three point baskets, three of three free throws, five rebounds, and two assists.  William Bryan added 16 points, two rebounds, and five assists.
