Oldham County coach Coy Zerhusen started the following lineup: 6-4 Sr. Tyler Slone, 6-2 Sr. Denton Oak, 6-6 Sr. Xander Wagner-Rose, 5-10 Sr. Grant Gibson, and 6-2 Sr. Samuel Campbell.  George Rogers Clark coach Josh Cook countered with 6-4 Jr. Stanley Smothers, 6-3 Sr. Jared Wellman, 6-6 Jr. Trent Edwards, 5-9 Jr. Aden Slone, and 6-3 Jr. Jerone Morton.

 

Oldham County trailed by 15 with 3:18 left in the third quarter and cut the deficit to four late in the game but George Rogers Clark held on for a 54-47 victory.  Oldham County’s superiority on the boards (33-24) helped neutralize a poor shooting night but GRC’s defense forced some key turnovers in crucial situations to help the Cardinals gain control of the game.  GRC shot 50% from the field including five pf 13 from the three point line.  The Cardinals connected on nine of 16 free throws, pulled down 24 rebounds, and scored 15 points off 16 Oldham County turnovers.  Oldham County shot 36.7% from the field including six of 17 from beyond the arc.  The Colonels connected on five of eight free throws, pulled down 33 rebounds, and scored eight points off 14 GRC turnovers.

 

Jerone Morton led George Rogers Clark with 19 points including two three point baskets, three of four free throws, four assists, and two steals.  Aden Slone added 12 points including two three point baskets, four rebounds, and five assists.  Jared Wellman recorded 10 points, seven rebounds, two assists, and three blocked shots.  Stanley Smothers added nine points and six rebounds.

 

Samuel Campbell led Oldham County with 16 points including three three point baskets, three of four free throws, and three assists.  Tyler Slone added 15 points, seven rebounds, two assists, and three blocked shots.  Grant Gibson recorded 10 points including three three point baskets, three rebounds, and three assists.  Xander Wagner-Rose chipped in with four points, 11 rebounds, five assists, three blocked shots, and two steals.
