Madison Central vs. Dixie Heights (Girls)

Madison Central coach Brad Lovely started the following lineup: 5-10 So. Bailey Hensley, 5-7 So. Eden Carter, 5-9 Sr. Kessaney Melton, 5-7 Fr. Brittany Campbell, and 5-6 Fr. Nataya Strader.  Dixie Heights coach Joel Steczynski countered with 5-10 Sr. Madelyn Lawson, 5-9 Jr. Samantha Berman, 5-11 So. Abby Thelen, 5-7 Jr. Reese Smith, and 5-8 Jr. Ella Steczynski.

 

Madison Central raced out to a 19-7 first quarter lead but Dixie Heights regained momentum in the second quarter to lead 28-26 at halftime.  It was all Dixie Heights in the second half as the Lady Colonels pulled away for a 67-49 victory.  Dixie Heights shot 40% from the field including 12 of 31 from the three point line.  The Lady Colonels connected on seven of 14 free throws, pulled down 33 rebounds, and scored 19 points off 28 Madison Central turnovers.  Madison Central shot 38.9% from the field including six of 10 from beyond the arc.  The Lady Indians connected on one of 10 free throws, pulled down 46 rebounds, and scored 13 points off 14 Dixie Heights turnovers.

 

Madelyn Lawson led Dixie Heights with 14 points, 15 rebounds, four assists, two blocked shots, and two steals.  Ella Steczynski added 14 points including four three point baskets, three rebounds, and three steals.  Samantha Berman recorded 12 points including two three point baskets, three assists, four blocked shots, and three steals.  5-9 8th Grade Coralee Pelfrey chipped in with 12 points on four three point baskets, seven rebounds, and three assists.  Reese Smith added eight points, four assists, and four steals.

 

Nataya Strader led Madison Central with 15 points including three three point baskets, six rebounds, four assists, and two steals.  Bailey Hensley added 10 points, 12 rebounds, three assists, and three steals.  Eden Carter recorded eight points, seven rebounds, and two steals.  Brittany Campbell chipped in with four points, six rebounds, and six assists.
