White, Greer, & Maggard Orthodontics Holiday Classic

Scott County coach Steve Helton started the following lineup: 5-10 8th Grade Kierstin Young, 5-6 8th Grade Belle Banner, 6-1 Sr. Kenady Tompkins, 5-5 Jr. Kelsie Hall, and 5-6 Fr. Maleiyah Moore.  (Coach Helton’s team resembles a M.A.S.H. unit at this stage of the season as he is missing three regular starters due to injuries).  South Laurel coach Chris Souder countered with 6-0 So. Clara Collins, 5-10 Jr. Gracie Turner, 5-11 Jr. Emily Cox, 5-6 Sr. Corbin Miller, and 5-11 7th Grade Peyton Mabe.

 

South Laurel raced out to a 35-11 first quarter lead on their way to an 80-47 victory over Scott County.  South Laurel shot 50.9% from the field including 12 of 24 from the three point line.  The Cardinals connected on 10 of 16 free throws, pulled down 35 rebounds, and scored 35 points off 25 Scott County turnovers.  Scott County shot 34.1% from the field including seven of 23 from beyond the arc.  The Cardinals connected on 10 of 12 free throws, pulled down 25 rebounds, and scored 16 points off 14 South Laurel turnovers.

 

Corbin Miller led a balanced South Laurel scoring attack with 14 points including four three point baskets.  Clara Collins added 13 points including three three point baskets, four rebounds, four assists, and three steals.  Emily Cox recorded 13 points, three rebounds, and three assists.  Peyton Mabe recorded 13 points including two three point baskets, five rebounds, five assists, and three steals.  6-2 Sr. Rachel Presley added nine points, five rebounds, two assists, and two steals.

 

Maleiyah Moore led Scott County with 13 points including three three point baskets and four rebounds.  Kenady Tompkins added 11 points, four rebounds, and three steals.  Belle Banner also scored 11 points.  Kelsie Hall chipped in with four points, six rebounds, and three steals.
