Covington Catholic coach Scott Ruthsatz started the following lineup: 6-6 Jr. Chandler Starks, 6-2 Sr. Mekhi Wilson, 6-8 Sr. Mitchell Rylee, 5-11 Jr. Evan Ipsaro, and 6-1 Jr. Kascyl Gillis.  Homes coach Bradford Carr countered with 6-0 Sr. Tayquan Calloway, 6-0 Sr. Nate Pouncy, 6-2 Sr. Quantez Calloway, 5-8 Sr. Miguel Garcia, and 5-10 Sr. David Commodore.

 

Covington Catholic raced out to a 29-8 first quarter lead on their way to a 91-46 victory over Holmes.  Covington Catholic shot 61.5% from the field including four of 13 from the three point line.  The Colonels connected on seven of 12 free throws, pulled down 47 rebounds, and committed eight turnovers.  Holmes shot 38.6% from the field including six of 16 from beyond the arc.  The Bulldogs connected on six of 11 free throws, pulled down 20 rebounds, and committed 17 turnovers.

 

Evan Ipsaro led Covington Catholic with 21 points including two three point baskets, four rebounds, five assists, and four steals.  Mitchell Rylee added 18 points, nine rebounds, three assists, and two blocked shots.  6-1 So. Brady Hussey recorded 11 points, nine rebounds, and four assists.  Mekhi Wilson chipped in with nine points.  6-6 Jr. Colin Detzel added eight points and five rebounds.  Kascyl Gillis recorded eight points, two rebounds, and two steals.  Chandler Starks added eight points, 10 rebounds, and six assists.

 

Quantez Calloway led Holmes with 20 points including five of seven free throws, six rebounds, and four steals.  Tayquan Calloway added nine points on three three point baskets.  Miguel Garcia recorded eight points and five rebounds.
