West Jessamine vs. Madison Central (Girls)

West Jessamine coach Jana Hughes started the following lineup: 6-0 Sr. Aaliyah Edenstrom, 5-9 7th Grade Claire Marshall, 6-0 Sr. Delaysia Thomas, 5-5 8th Grade Anaya Chestnut, and 5-7 8th Grade Isabella Lewis.  Madison Central coach Robert Cooksey countered with 5-10 So. Bailey Hensley, 5-7 So. Eden Carter, 5-9 Sr. Kessaney Melton, 5-7 Fr. Brittany Campbell, and 5-6 Fr. Nataya Strader.

 

Madison Central led by 22 points early in the second quarter and withstood a determined comeback by West Jessamine to earn a 71-63 victory.  Madison Central shot 46.2% from the field including three of 14 from the three point line.  The Lady Indians connected on 20 of 28 free throws, pulled down 25 rebounds, and scored 27 points off 25 West Jessamine turnovers.  West Jessamine shot 36.4% from the field including three of 11 from beyond the arc.  They connected on 20 of 28 free throws, pulled down 48 rebounds, and scored 14 points off 13 Madison Central turnovers.

 

Bailey Hensley led Madison Central with 21 points including seven of nine free throws, eight rebounds, and two blocked shots.  Eden Carter added 17 points, three rebounds, and three steals.  Brittany Campbell recorded 16 points including 10 of 12 free throws, three rebounds, seven assists, and six steals and only committed three turnovers.  5-7 Jr. Chloe Freeman chipped in with 10 points including two three point baskets.

 

Anaya Chestnut led West Jessamine with 27 points including three three point baskets, eight of 11 free throws, two rebounds, and two steals.  Aaliyah Edenstrom added 13 points including five of five free throws, and 15 rebounds.  Claire Marshall recorded 10 points, 12 rebounds, three assists, and two steals.  Delaysia Thomas chipped in with five points and nine rebounds. Isabella Lewis added six points, four rebounds, and four steals.
