Lafayette coach Allison Denton started the following lineup: 5-10 Sr. Olivia Cathers, 5-10 Fr. Tess Nelson, 6-1 Sr. Anaya Brown, 5-1 Sr. Catherine Jacobs, and 5-5 Jr. Gracyn Grantz.  Frederick Douglass coach DJ Moberly countered with 5-9 Sr. Allison Wallace, 5-9 Sr. Bresha Love, 6-2 So. Ayanna Sarai-Darrington, 5-3 Fr. Kate Baker, and 5-7 Fr. Niah Rhodes.

 

Lafayette led 33-17 late in the second quarter but had to withstand a furious rally by Frederick Douglass to earn a 60-58 victory over the Lady Broncos.  Lafayette shot 35.3% from the field including six of 18 from the three point line.  The Lady Generals connected on 18 of 29 free throws, pulled down 35 rebounds, and scored 20 points off 22 Frederick Douglass turnovers.  Frederic Douglass shot 40.4% from the field including eight of 23 from beyond the arc.  The Lady Broncos connected on 12 of 24 free throws, pulled down 37 rebounds, and scored 23 points off 13 Lafayette turnovers.

 

Anaya Brown led Lafayette with 16 points, 14 rebounds, four assists, and four steals.  Tess Nelson added 14 points including two three point baskets, four rebounds, and three assists.  Gracyn Grantz recorded 12 points including seven of 11 free throws, four rebounds, and two assists.  5-2 8th Grade Anna Clay Denton chipped in with 10 points including two three point baskets.

 

Ayanna Sarai-Darrington led Frederick Douglass with 17 points and 14 rebounds.  Niah Rhodes added 15 points including four three point baskets and two rebounds.  Kate Baker recorded 11 points including three three point baskets, two rebounds, seven assists, and two steals.  Allison Wallace chipped in with six points, eight rebounds, three assists, and two steals.
