Kentucky All “A” Classic Championship

Breathitt County coach John Noble started the following lineup: 6-8 Jr. Christian Collins, 6-4 Sr. Jaylen Turner, 6-6 Jr. Bryce Hoskins, 6-0 Jr. Luke Bellamy, and 6-4 Fr. Austin Sperry.  Pikeville coach Elisha Justice countered with 6-6 Jr. Rylee Samons, 6-5 Sr. Nick Robinson, 6-6 Sr. Tate Walters, 5-8 Sr. Keian Worrix, and 6-0 Sr. Laithan Hall.

 

Pikeville defeated Breathitt County by the score of 53-44.  Pikeville shot 41.2% from the field including three of 15 from the three point line.  The Panthers connected on eight of 15 free throws, pulled down 31 rebounds, and scored 19 points off 17 Breathitt County turnovers.  Breathitt County shot 46.3% from the field including four of 12 from beyond the arc.  The Bobcats connected on two of seven free throws, pulled down 31 rebounds, and scored seven points off seven Pikeville turnovers.

 

Rylee Samons led Pikeville with 16 points including five of eight free throws, 10 rebounds, six assists, and two steals.  Laithan Hall added 15 points including two three point baskets and three assists.  Nick Robinson recorded seven points, 11 rebounds, and five steals.

 

Christian Collins led Breathitt County with 20 points and six rebounds.  Austin Sperry added 13 points, nine rebounds, two assists, and two steals.

 

Rylee Samons (Pikeville) was named tournament MVP.
