Paul Laurence Dunbar coach Murray Gavin started the following lineup: 6-4 Sr. Zach Carter, 6-1 Jr. Hunter Williams, 6-8 Sr. Lionel Kumwimba, 6-1 Jr. Max VanDyke, and 6-1 Jr.Nick Spalding.  Henry Clay coach Daniel Brown countered with 6-2 Sr. Aziel Blackwell, 6-4 Sr. Grant Copeland, 6-7 Sr. Brenden Wicker, 5-9 Jr. Sincere Madison, and 6-1 Sr. Kanye Henderson.

 

Paul Laurence Dunbar defeated Henry Clay 71-68 in a triple overtime marathon tonight.  Henry Clay led 40-31 in the third quarter but rallied for the victory.  The score was tied 12 times and there were 11 lead changes in the game.  Dunbar shot 50% from the field including five of 17 from the three point line.  The Bulldogs connected on 10 of 17 free throws, pulled down 40 rebounds, and scored 10 points off 17 Henry Clay turnovers.  Henry Clay shot 39.3% from the field including four of 14 from beyond the arc.  The Blue Devils connected on 20 of 33 free throws, pulled down 32 rebounds, and scored 21 points off 24 Dunbar turnovers.

 

Nick Spalding led Dunbar with 27 points including three three point baskets, six of seven free throws, and five rebounds.  Lionel Kumwimba added 15 points,14 rebounds, three assists, five blocked shots, and three steals.  Max VanDyke recorded 13 points, eight rebounds, and three assists.

 

Aziel Blackwell led Henry Clay with 19 points including seven of 10 free throws, 10 rebounds, and two steals.  Kanye Henderson added 16 points including seven of 10 free throws, three rebounds, and two steals.  5-9 Jr. Konlin Brown recorded 12 points including two three point baskets.
