Sacred Heart Academy coach Donna Moir started the following lineup: 6-0 Fr. ZaKiyah Johnson, 5-11 Sr. Josie Gilvin, 6-0 Sr. Alex Wolff, 5-8 Jr. Triniti Ralston, and 5-10 So. Reagan Bender.  Mercy Academy coach Nick Cann countered with 6-1 Jr. Emma Barnett, 5-10 Jr. Mary Smith, 6-2 Fr. Leah Macy, 5-5 Fr. Alyssa Murphy, and 5-5 Sr. Gracie Helm.

 

Mercy Academy defeated Sacred Heart Academy 98-96 in a double overtime thriller.  Mercy Academy led 68-58 early in the fourth quarter but Sacred Heart rallied to tie the game.  There were nine lead changes and eight ties in this game.  Sacred Heart’s Trinity Ralston was held scoreless and Josie Gilvin was limited to one point as both were saddled with foul woes today.  Mercy Academy shot 53.4% from the field including nine of 26 from the three point line.  The Jaguars connected on 27 of 41 free throws, pulled down 32 rebounds, and scored 25 points off 25 Sacred Heart Academy turnovers.  Sacred Heart Academy shot 50.7% from the field including eight of 16 from the three point line.  The Valkyries connected on 14 of 23 free throws, pulled down 47 rebounds, and scored 33 points off 20 Mercy Academy turnovers.

 

Alyssa Murphy led Mercy Academy with 34 points including three three point baskets, nine of 14 free throws, three rebounds, seven assists, and seven steals.  Leah Macy added 31 points including nine of nine free throws, 15 rebounds, three assists, and seven steals.  Mary Smith recorded 18 points including three three point baskets, five of eight free throws, and two assists.  Emma Barnett chipped in with 13 points including three three point baskets, and two steals.

 

ZaKiyah Johnson led Sacred Heart Academy with 35 points including 11 of 15 free throws, 13 rebounds, seven assists, two blocked shots, and two steals.  Reagan Bender added 18 points including four three point baskets, three rebounds, and four steals.  Alex Wolff recorded 17 points, seven rebounds, and three blocked shots.  6-3 So. Angelina Pelayo chipped in with 11 points, seven rebounds, and three assists.  5-9 Sr. Olivia Kaufman recorded nine points on three three point baskets.  Josie Gilvin added one point, seven rebounds, and five assists.
