Scott County vs. Madison Southern (Girls)

Scott County coach Steve Helton started the following lineup: 5-7 Jr. Tyra Young, 5-6 Fr. Maleiyah Moore, 6-1 Sr. Kenady Tompkins, 5-4 Sr. Brianna Penney, and 5-6 Sr. Emma Price.  Madison Southern coach Josh Curtis countered with 5-11 Sr. Macie Daniels, 5-6 Sr. Morgan Flannery, 5-11 Jr. Bella Moberly, 5-4 8th Grade Hadley French, and 5-5 Jr. Tara Wooten.

 

Scott County survived a double overtime marathon to win a gut-check 57-54 decision over Madison Southern.  There were 14 lead changes and 10 ties in this game.  The finish was improbable as Scott County lost Tyra Young, Kenady Tompkins, and Emma Price via the foul route.  There were players who stepped up to propel the Lady Cardinals to the win.  5-5 Jr. Kelsie Hall hit two big baskets down the stretch and Maleiyah Moore scored 12 of her 15 points in the two overtime periods.  Scott County shot 40% from the field including two of 13 from the three point line.  The Lady Cardinals connected on 15 of 18 free throws, pulled down 39 rebounds, and scored nine points off 11 Madison Southern turnovers.  Madison Southern shot 25% from the field including four of 14 from beyond the arc.  The Lady Eagles connected on 24 of 35 free throws, pulled down 31 rebounds, and scored 16 points off 19 Scott County turnovers.

 

Kenady Tompkins led Scott County with 22 points, 13 rebounds, and three steals.  Maleiyah Moore added 15 points including six of seven free throws, five rebounds, two assists, and two blocked shots.  Tyra Young recorded 10 points including four of five free throws, eight rebounds, and two steals. 

 

Hadley French led Madison Southern with 19 points including two three point baskets, seven of eight free throws, six rebounds, and two steals.  Morgan Flannery added 12 points including six of eight free throws, four rebounds, three assists, and two steals.  Macie Daniels recorded 10 points and six rebounds.
