2022 Mingua Beef Jerky Girls’ Sweet 16® State Basketball Tournament

Bethlehem (23-8) (Region 5) vs. Bullitt East (31-4) (Region 6)

Bethlehem coach Jason Clark started the following lineup: 5-7 So. Ashlyn Miles, 5-7 Sr. Bailey Bishop, 6-0 Jr. Emma Filiatreau, 5-5 So. Carlie Thurmond, and 5-5 Sr. Kasey Spalding.  Bullitt East coach Chris Stallings countered with 5-10 So. Anna Rodgers, 5-8 Jr.Logan Ortega, 6-6 Sr. Gracie Merkle, 5-8 Jr. Lilly Reid, and 5-8 Sr. Emma Egan.

 

Bullitt East led 21-19 at halftime and pulled away in the second half for a 67-50 over Bethlehem.  The score was tied three times and there were two lead changes in the game.  Bullitt East shot 48.2% from the field including three of 12 from the three point line.  The Lady Chargers connected on 10 of 14 free throws, pulled down 34 rebounds, and scored 15 points off 12 Bethlehem turnovers.  Bethlehem shot 38% from the field including three of 15 from beyond the arc.  The Banshees connected on nine of 13 free throws, pulled down 27 rebounds, and scored two points off 12 Bullitt East turnovers.

 

Gracie Merkle led Bullitt East with 24 points, 15 rebounds, and four blocked shots.  Lilly Reid added 21 points including three three point baskets, four rebounds, five assists, and two steals.  Emma Egan recorded nine points, six rebounds, and four assists.  5-9 So. Jada Hughes chipped in with nine points and four rebounds.

 

Emma Filiatreau led Bethlehem with 14 points including six of six free throws, and five rebounds.  Carlie Thurmond added 11 points, five rebounds, and six assists.  Kasey Spalding recorded eight points, four rebounds, and two assists.
