Lincoln County (30-7) Region 12 vs. Jeffersontown (24-9) Region 6

 

Lincoln County coach Jeff Jackson started the following lineup: 6-3 Jr. Colton Ralston, 6-2 Sr. Jaxon Smith, 6-3 Jr. Jackson Sims, 5-11 Jr. Tramane Alcorn, and 5-11 Sr. Clayton Davis.  Jeffersontown coach 6-5 So. Lukus McDaniels, 6-4 Sr. Will Vasser, 6-7 Sr. Lavonte Harris, 5-11 Jr. Brandon Gatewood, and 6-0 So. Drae Vasser.

 

Lincoln County utilized a zone defense and hit some clutch shots late to earn a 45-41 hard fought victory over Jeffersontown.  Lincoln County led 28-20 at halftime but Jeffersontown rallied in the third quarter to tie the game at 35-35 at the end of three quarters.  Lincoln County shot 41.2% from the field including four of 12 from the three point line.  The Patriots connected on 13 of 22 free throws, pulled down 25 rebounds, and committed 11 turnovers.  Jeffersontown shot 28.3% from the field including two of 19 from beyond the arc.  The Chargers connected on 13 of 19 free throws, pulled down 32 rebounds, and committed 11 turnovers.

 

Jaxon Smith led Lincoln County with 14 points including eight of 11 free throws, four rebounds, three assists, and two blocked shots.  Colton Ralston added 12 points including two three point baskets, four rebounds, and two steals.  Clayton Davis recorded nine points and five rebounds.  Tramane Alcorn chipped in with six points, three rebounds, and five assists.

 

6-4 Sr. Will Vasser led Jeffersontown with eight points including five of seven free throws, and seven rebounds.  Drae Vasser added eight points, six rebounds, and three assists.  Lavonte Harris recorded seven points and 11 rebounds.  6-5 Jr. Xavier Price chipped in with seven points and four rebounds.

North Oldham pulled away in the last quarter to defeat Muhlenberg County by the score of 36-32.  The score was tied eight times and there were four lead changes in the game.  North Oldham shot 34.9% from the field including three of 10 from the three point line.  The Mustangs connected on three of three free throws, pulled down 26 rebounds, and scored 11 points off 10 Muhlenberg County turnovers.  Muhlenberg County shot 37.8% from the field including three of 12 from beyond the arc.  The Mustangs connected on one of four free throws, pulled down 26 rebounds, and scored three points off seven North Oldham turnovers.

 

Luke Anderson led North Oldham with 12 points, 11 rebounds, two assists, and seven blocked shots.  Anderson was six of seven from the field.  Dallas Roberts added 10 points including two three point baskets.  Grant Neal chipped in with six points.

 

Donovan McCoy led Muhlenberg County with nine points and four rebounds.  Cole Vincent added eight points and seven rebounds.  Trey Lovell recorded six points, two rebounds, and four assists.

George Rogers Clark pulled away in the second quarter on their way to a 77-36 victory over Perry County Central.  George Rogers Clark shot 55.2% from the field including eight of 19 from the three point line.  The Cardinals connected on five of five free throws, pulled down 33 rebounds, and scored 25 points off 19 Perry County Central turnovers.  Perry County Central shot 35.6% from the field including three of 14 from beyond the arc.  The Commodores connected on one of five free throws, pulled down 23 rebounds, and scored four points off eight George Rogers Clark turnovers.

 

Jerone Morton led George Rogers Clark with 22 points including two three point baskets, five rebounds, seven assists, and two blocked shots.  Sam Parrish added 20 points including four three point baskets.  Trent Edwards recorded 13 points, five rebounds, and four blocked shots.  Tanner Walton chipped in with nine points, 10 rebounds, and five assists.  5-10 So. Reshaun Hampton added nine points and three rebounds.

 

Lanse McKenzie led Perry County Central with 10 points and five rebounds.  Tyler Day added nine points.

Pikeville outscored North Laurel 19-9 in the third quarter on their way to a 59-51 victory over North Laurel.  Rylee Samons came up big for Pikeville with 23 points and eight rebounds while the Panther defense held Reed Sheppard to 14 points on five of 20 from the field.  The score was tied three times and there were three lead changes in this game.  Pikeville shot 47.9% from the field including seven of 20 from the three point line.  The Panthers connected on six of 11 free throws, pulled down 34 rebounds, and scored eight points off 10 North Laurel turnovers.  North Laurel shot 36.4% from the field including five of 20 from beyond the arc.  The Jaguars connected on six of 10 free throws, pulled down 33 rebounds, and scored eight points off 11 turnovers. 

 

Rylee Samons  led Pikeville with 23 points including four three point baskets, eight rebounds, two assists, and two blocked shots.  Nick Robinson added 14 points,11 rebounds, and two blocked shots.  Keian Worrix recorded 12 points including two three point baskets, three rebounds, six assists, and two steals.  Tate Walters chipped in with five points, eight rebounds, and three assists.

 

Ryan Davidson led North Laurel with 23 points, 11 rebounds, and three assists.  Reed Sheppard was limited to 14 points but he recorded eight rebounds, five assists, two blocked shots, and six steals.

Male coach Tim Haworth started the following lineup: 6-7 Jr. Kaleb Glenn, 6-4 8th Grade Jayden Johnson, 6-7 Sr. Dez Lindsay, 5-10 Jr. Jack Edelen, and 6-2 Jr. Demetrius White.  Warren Central coach William Unseld countered with 6-4 Jr. Chappelle Whitney, 6-3 Sr. Jaiden Lawrence, 6-4 Jr. Damarion Walkup, 5-10 Jr. Izayiah Villafuerte, and 6-2 Jr. Omari Glover.

 

Warren Central trailed by 13 points in the first quarter but rallied to earn a 57-54 overtime victory to defeat one of the tournament favorites.  There were seven ties and 12 lead changes in this game.  Warren Central shot 45.3% from the field including one of nine from the three point line.  The Dragons connected on eight of 13 free throws, pulled down 32 rebounds, and scored 14 points off 13 Male turnovers.  Male shot 39.1% from the field including six of 17 from beyond the arc.  The Bulldogs connected on 12 of 20 free throws, pulled down 29 rebounds, and scored seven points off nine Warren Central turnovers.

 

Omari Glover led Warren Central with 20 points and nine rebounds.  Chappelle Whitney added 14 points and six rebounds.  Jaiden Lawrence recorded 12 points, five rebounds, three assists, and four steals.

 

Dez Lindsay led Male with 23 points including six of 10 free throws, four rebounds, two assists, and two steals.  Kaleb Glenn added 13 points, 10 rebounds, and two blocked shots.  Jayden Johnson recorded 10 points including two three point baskets, and two rebounds.  Jack Edelen chipped in with six points on two three point baskets, three rebounds, three assists, and two steals.

Lyon County trailed 36-35 at halftime but pulled away in the second half to earn an 82-65 victory over John Hardin.  There were three ties and lead changes in this game.  Lyon County shot 51.7% from the field including three of eight from the three point line.  The Lyons connected on 17 of 26 free throws, pulled down 41 rebounds, and scored 22 points off 13 John Hardin turnovers.  John Hardin shot 42.4% from the field including six of 22 from beyond the arc.  The Bulldogs connected on nine of 15 free throws, pulled down 30 rebounds, and scored  10 points off 13 Lyon County turnovers.

 

Travis Perry led Lyon County with 26 points including three three point baskets, seven of eight free throws, seven rebounds, five assists, and two steals.  Jackson Shoulders added 22 points, eight rebounds, and two assists.  Brady Shoulders recorded 18 points including four of eight free throws, 11 rebounds, four assists, and four steals.  Jack Reddick chipped in with six points, six rebounds, five assists, and three steals.

 

Jalen Tyus led John Hardin with 18 points including two three point baskets, and six rebounds.  Devon Rogers added 13 points, five rebounds, and eight assists.  Amareion Doctor recorded eight points, four rebounds, and two steals.  Corey Brown chipped in with eight points, three rebounds, and two assists.  Jamal Smith blocked four shots.

Henry Clay led 46-42 after three quarters but Murray rallied and made key plays down the stretch to earn a 57-53 victory over Henry Clay.  There were five ties and three lead changes in this game.  Murray shot 50% from the field including three of 11 from the three point line.  The Tigers connected on 10 of 15 free throws, pulled down 27 rebounds, and scored two points off 10 Henry Clay turnovers.  Henry Clay shot 43.9% from the field including four of 13 from beyond the arc.  The Blue devils connected on 13 of 20 free throws, pulled down 24 rebounds, and scored eight points off nine Murray turnovers.

 

Grant Whitaker led Murray with 20 points, five assists, and two blocked shots.  Trey Boggess added 16 points including five of six free throws, 12 rebounds, and two assists.

 

Kanye Henderson led Henry Clay with 22 points including seven of 10 free throws, five rebounds, four assists, and two steals.  Aziel Blackwell added 22 points including six of 10 free throws, and five rebounds. Brenden Wicker recorded four points, six rebounds, and two blocked shots.

Ashland Blazer came out firing on all cylinders from long range and took a 40-33 halftime lead but Covington Catholic rallied fueled by their inside game to take a 76-65 victory.  There were two ties and three lead changes in this game.  Covington Catholic held a 50-20 advantage in points in the paint.  Covington Catholic shot 66.7% from the field including two of five from the three point line.  The Colonels connected on 30 rebounds, and scored eight points off eight Ashland Blazer turnovers.  Ashland Blazer shot 50% from the field including 12 of 27 from beyond the arc.  The Tomcats connected on five of seven free throws, pulled down 12 rebounds, and scored 10 points off 12 Covington Catholic turnovers.

 

Evan Ipsaro led Covington Catholic with 26 points including eight of eight free throws, seven rebounds, and five assists.  Chandler Starks added 21 points, 12 rebounds, three assists, and two blocked shots.  6-2 Sr. Mekhi Wilson recorded 15 points, two rebounds, and three assists.  Mitchell Rylee chipped in with 11 points and six rebounds.

 

Cole Villers led Ashland Blazer with 25 points including seven three point baskets, three rebounds, and two steals.  Colin Porter added 18 points including two three point baskets, two rebounds, and eight assists.

North Oldham (19-13) vs. Lincoln County (31-7) Quarterfinal

Grant Neal.  Lincoln County coach Jeff Jackson countered with 6-3 Jr. Colton Ralston, 6-2 Sr. Jaxon Smith, 6-3 Jr. Jackson Sims, 5-11 Jr. Tramane Alcorn, and 5-11 Sr. Clayton Davis. 

 

Lincoln County’s solid defense and some timely shooting from beyond the arc propelled them to the semifinals with 56-46 victory over North Oldham.  There were two ties and three lead changes in this game.  Lincoln County shot 46.2% from the field including nine of 18 from the three point line.  The Patriots connected on 11 of 16 free throws, pulled down 29 rebounds, and scored eight points off seven North Oldham turnovers.  North Oldham shot 38% from the field including two of 16 from beyond the arc.  The Mustangs connected on six of 13 free throws, pulled down 25 rebounds, and scored 13 points off 12 Lincoln County turnovers.

 

Tramane Alcorn led Lincoln County with 15 points, five rebounds, four assists, and two steals.  Jaxon Smith added 11 points and five rebounds.  Colton Ralston recorded 10 points including two three point baskets, two rebounds, and three assists.  Clayton Davis chipped in with eight points including five of eight free throws, six rebounds, and two assists.  Jackson Sims added six points on two three point baskets and eight rebounds.

 

Ian Higdon led North Oldham with 20 points including four of six free throws, 10 rebounds, and two assists.  Jack Scales added 12 points including two three point baskets, two rebounds, and two assists.  Luke Anderson recorded four points, seven rebounds, five assists, and two blocked shots.

George Rogers Clark’s hard nosed defense allowed the Cardinals to survive with a 43-38 victory over a good Pikeville squad.  George Rogers Clark shot 31.1% from the field including two of 21 from the three point line.  The Cardinals connected on 13 of 19 free throws, pulled down 35 rebounds, and scored 10 points off 11 Pikeville turnovers.  Pikeville shot 28% from the field including five of 24 from beyond the arc.  The Panthers connected on five of nine free throws, pulled down 34 rebounds, and scored three points off eight George Rogers Clark turnovers.

 

Tanner Walton led George Rogers Clark with 11 points and 10 rebounds.  Jerone Morton added 11 points including seven of nine free throws, five rebounds, three assists, and three steals.  Trent Edwards recorded nine points and five rebounds.  Sam Parrish chipped in with five points and 10 rebounds.

 

Keian Worrix led Pikeville with 13 points, two rebounds, and four assists.  6-3 Sr. Alex Rogers added nine points and six rebounds.  Laithan Hall recorded eight points including two three point baskets and three rebounds.  Rylee Samons pulled down nine rebounds.

Covington Catholic withstood a late rally by Lyon County to earn a 59-57 victory.  The score was tied four times and there were six lead changes in the game.  Covington Catholic led by nine points late in the second quarter but Lyon County rallied and the score was tied at 41 after three quarters.  Covington Catholic surged ahead in the final quarter but Lyon County rallied fueled by Travis Perry’s eight points in the final two minutes but CovCath responded to every challenge and ensured the victory on two free throws by Evan Ipsaro.  Covington Catholic shot 45.8% from the field including eight of 21 from the three point line.  The Colonels connected on seven of nine free throws, pulled down 26 rebounds, and scored 14 points off 11 Lyon County turnovers.  Lyon County shot 42.9% from the field including two of 11 from beyond the arc.  The Lyons connected on 13 of 18 free throws, pulled down 31 rebounds, and scored 12 points off 13 Covington Catholic turnovers.

 

Kascyl McGillis led Covington Catholic with 17 points including five three point baskets.  Mitchell Rylee added 16 points, 11 rebounds, and two blocked shots.  Brady Hussey recorded 13 points including three three point baskets.  Evan Ipsaro chipped in with eight points including four of four free throws, two rebounds, six assists, and two steals. 

 

Travis Perry led Lyon County with 21 points including two three point baskets, seven rebounds, five assists, and two steals.  Jackson Shoulders added 14 points including six of six free throws, 13 rebounds, and two assists.  Jack Reddick recorded nine points including three of four free throws. Nick Whalin chipped in with seven points.

Murray raced out to a 24-16 first quarter lead but Warren Central rallied for a 54-48 victory.  There was one tie and two lead changes in this game.  Warren Central outscored Murray 17-9 in the final quarter.  Warren Central shot 46.2% from the field including six of 14 from the three point line.  The Dragons connected on 12 of 18 free throws, pulled down 23 rebounds, and scored six points off nine Murray turnovers.  Murray shot 52.6% from the field including four of 12 from beyond the arc.  The Tigers connected on four of 10 free throws, pulled down 18 rebounds, and scored 13 points off 11 Warren Central turnovers.

 

Jaiden Lawrence led Warren Central with 13 points including four of six free throws, six rebounds, two assists, and three steals.  Omari Glover added 11 points, five rebounds, and two assists.  6-4 So. Kade Unseld recorded 10 points including three three point baskets.  Izayiah Villafuerte chipped in with nine points including five of six free throws, three rebounds, and seven assists.  Chappelle Whitney added nine points including two three point baskets.

 

Grant Whitaker led Murray with 23 points, six rebounds, two assists, and two blocked shots.  Trey Boggess added 12 points including two three point baskets.

George Rogers Clark coach Josh Cook started the following lineup: 6-4 Jr. Jerone Morton, 6-3 Sr. Tanner Walton, 6-7 Jr. Trent Edwards, 5-9 Sr. Aden Slone, and 5-11 Jr. Sam Parrish.  Lincoln County coach Jeff Jackson countered with 6-3 Jr. Colton Ralston, 6-2 Sr. Jaxon Smith, 6-3 Jr. Jackson Sims, 5-11 Jr. Tramane Alcorn, and 5-11 Sr. Clayton Davis. 

 

George Rogers Clark defeated Lincoln County by the score of 54-51 in two overtimes.  Lincoln County’s Jaxon Smith hit a basket at the buzzer in the first overtime to tie the score at 46-46 and force a second overtime.  George Rogers Clark’s Aden Slone hit six free throws in the second overtime and Jaxon Smith’s three point attempt at the buzzer for the tie failed to connect and GRC claimed the victory.  There were seven ties and three lead changes in this game.  GRC shot 36.7% from the field including three of 15 from the three point line.  The Cardinals connected on 15 of 17 free throws, pulled down 32 rebounds, and scored six points off four Lincoln County turnovers.  Lincoln County shot 33.9% from the field including three of 15 from beyond the arc.  The Patriots connected on eight of 11 free throws, pulled down 36 rebounds, and scored seven points off seven GRC turnovers.

 

Sam Parrish led George Rogers Clark with 16 points including two three point baskets.  Aden Slone added 14 points including eight of nine free throws.  Jerone Morton recorded 11 points, four rebounds, and three assists.  Trent Edwards chipped in with seven points, 10 rebounds, and five blocked shots.  Tanner Walton added six points and seven rebounds.

 

Tramane Alcorn led Lincoln County with 19 points including four of five free throws, and five rebounds.  Jaxon Smith added 14 points and six rebounds.  Jackson Sims recorded seven points, eight rebounds, and two steals.  Colton Ralston chipped in with seven points, five rebounds, and two blocked shots.  Clayton Davis added four points, seven rebounds, three assists, and two blocked shots.

Warren Central trailed 34-25 at halftime but rallied in the second half to defeat Covington Catholic by the score of 61-58.  Covington Catholic missed two three point attempts in the closing seconds for the tie.  There were seven ties and 10 lead changes in this game.  Warren Central shot 50% from the field including seven of 13 from the three point line.  The Dragons connected on 12 of 14 free throws, pulled down 21 rebounds, and scored nine points off seven Covington Catholic turnovers.  Covington Catholic shot 42.2% from the field including six of 18 from beyond the arc.  The Colonels connected on 14 of 15 free throws, pulled down 21 rebounds, and scored eight points off nine Warren Central turnovers.

 

Chappelle Whitney led Warren Central with 21 points and four rebounds.  Jaiden Lawrence added 15 points including three three point baskets, four of five free throws, two rebounds, two assists, and two steals.  Omari Glover recorded eight points including four of four free throws, six rebounds, and four assists.  6-4 So. Kade Unseld chipped in with eight points including two three point baskets and five rebounds.

 

Evan Ipsaro led Covington Catholic with 30 points including nine of nine free throws, four rebounds, and two assists.  Brady Hussey added 10 points including three three point baskets.  Chandler Starks recorded six points, 10 rebounds, and four assists.  Kascyl McGillis chipped in with six points on two three point baskets.  Mitchell Rylee pulled down six rebounds.

Warren Central led by five early in the final quarter but George Rogers Clark rallied for a 43-42 victory.  Warren Central had an opportunity to tie at the free throw line but Izayiah Villafuerte missed the second of two free throws and the Dragons were unable to score on a put back and GRC claimed the title.  The score was tied four times and there were eight lead changes in the game.  GRC shot 44.7% from the field including three of 15 from the three point line.  The Cardinals connected on six of 10 free throws, pulled down 22 rebounds, and scored 13 points off nine Warren Central turnovers.  Warren Central shot 41.7% from the field including five of nine from beyond the arc.  The Dragons connected on seven of 12 free throws, pulled down 24 rebounds, and scored two points off four GRC turnovers.

 

Jerone Morton led George Rogers Clark with 14 points, three rebounds, and three steals.  Tanner Walton added 13 points, five rebounds, and two blocked shots.  Aden Slone recorded six points, two rebounds, and six assists.  Trent Edwards chipped in with five points, seven rebounds, and four blocked shots.
