Berea vs. Lafayette (Girls) @ Lafayette High School

 

Berea coach Dammian Stepp started the following lineup: 5-9 Jr. Chesney Lovins, 5-7 So, Abigail Beard, 5-8 Sr. Alexis Newman, 5-5 Sr. Isis Rodgers, and 5-6 Sr. Mati Stepp.  Lafayette coach Allison Denton countered with 5-10 Sr. Olivia Cathers, 5-10 Fr. Savannah Simpson, 6-1 Sr. Anaya Brown, 5-1 Sr. Catherine Jacobs, and 5-5 Jr. Gracyn Grantz.

 

Lafayette outscored Berea 14-2 in the second quarter on their way to a 46-26 victory.  Lafayette shot 33.3% from the field including seven of 19 from the three point line.  The Lady Generals connected on 13 of 19 free throws, pulled down 30 rebounds, and scored 23 points off 18 Berea turnovers.  Berea shot 20% from the field including five of 23 from beyond the arc.  The Lady Pirates connected on seven of eight free throws, pulled down 28 rebounds, and scored five points off seven Lafayette turnovers.

 

Savannah Simpson led Lafayette with 12 points including three three point baskets, and 10 rebounds.  Anaya Brown added 11 points including seven of eight free throws, six rebounds, five assists, three blocked shots, and two steals.  Olivia Cathers recorded eight points and four steals.

 

Mati Stepp led Berea with 10 points including two three point baskets, four of four free throws, and three rebounds.  Chesney Lovins added five points and seven rebounds.

Henry Clay outscored Great Crossing 14-3 in the third quarter on their way to a 53-36 victory over Great Crossing.  Henry Clay shot 40% from the field including three of 12 from the three point line.  The Lady Blue Devils connected on 18 of 28 free throws, pulled down 31 rebounds, and scored 24 points off 22 Great Crossing turnovers.  Great Crossing shot 29.7% from the field including three of 11 from beyond the arc.  The Lady Warhawks connected on 11 of 15 free throws, pulled down 22 rebounds, and scored 12 points off 18 Henry Clay turnovers.

 

Kennedy Williams led Henry Clay with 15 points including nine of 12 free throws and eight rebounds.  Allison Stone added 11 points including three of four free throws, three rebounds, and six steals.  Lydia VanMeter recorded nine points on three three point baskets.  Ariyanna Sutton chipped in with nine points, two rebounds, three assists, and four steals.

 

Timothi Williams led Great Crossing with 10 points including six of six free throws, two rebounds, three assists, and two steals.  Ava Schureman added eight points and three steals.  5-7 Chapel Brown recorded six points.

Lexington Catholic coach Donald Tegt started the following lineup: 5-10 Jr. Katherine Truitt, 5-10 Jr. Olivia Bretz, 5-9 So. Lydia Kennedy, 5-7 Jr. Lucy Nash, and 5-8 Fr. Abby Hammond.  Madison Southern coach Josh Curtis countered with 5-11 Sr. Macie Daniels, 5-8 Sr. Morgan Flannery, 5-10 Jr. Bella Moberly, 5-3 8th Grade Hadley French, and 5-5 Jr. Tara Wooten.

 

Madison Southern eked out a 39-38 victory over Lexington Catholic.  Lexington Catholic had two shots at the win in the closing seconds but the shots did not fall and the Eagles held on for the victory.  There were 10 ties and 13 lead changes in this game.  Madison Southern shot 30.6% from the field including three of 12 from the three point line.  The Lady Eagles connected on 14 of 23 free throws, pulled down 26 rebounds, and scored 11 points off 11 Lexington Catholic turnovers.  Lexington Catholic shot 33.3% from the field including three of 13 from beyond the arc.  The Knights connected on three of four free throws, pulled down 36 rebounds, and scored five points off six Madison Southern turnovers.

 

Macie Daniels led Madison Southern with 11 points including six of seven free throws, seven rebounds, and three blocked shots.  Morgan Flannery added nine points including four of four free throws, two rebounds, and three steals.  Hadley French recorded seven points and two steals.  Bella Moberly pulled down eight rebounds.

 

Katherine Truitt led Lexington Catholic with 17 points and 10 rebounds.  Lydia Nash added 10 points including two three point baskets, three rebounds, two blocked shots, and two steals.  Lucy Nash added seven points and Olivia Bretz pulled down eight rebounds.

Bryan Station vs. Franklin County (Girls) @ Franklin County High School

 

Franklin County raced out to a 20-6 first quarter lead on their way to a 68-36 victory over Bryan Station.  Franklin County shot 49.1% from the field including six of 18 from the three point line.  The Lady Defenders connected on 10 of 16 free throws and pulled down 32 rebounds.  Bryan Station shot 26.5% from the field including one of 11 from beyond the arc.  The Lady Defenders connected on nine of 15 free throws and pulled down 40 rebounds.

 

6-0 Jr. Jazmin Chambers led Franklin County with 18 points including five of five from the free throw line.  6-1 So. Rachel Shropshire added 14 points including four three point baskets.  5-10 Patience Laster recorded 11 points.  6-1 Fr. Juliana Frazee and 5-3 Fr. Leia Hogan each scored nine points.  6-4 Jr. Jhaven Meade and 5-5 Sr. Nevaeh Carter pulled down nine and six rebounds respectively.

 

5-10 Sr. Tania Woodall led Bryan Station with 14 points including three of four free throws and pulled down 10 rebounds.  5-11 So. Victory Sledge added seven points and 10 rebounds.  5-8 Fr. Jailenn Green recorded six points.  5-11 So. Kailyn Gentry chipped in with four points and seven rebounds.

Madison Central vs. Great Crossing (Boys) @ Great Crossing High School

 

Madison Central coach Allen Feldhaus started the following lineup; 6-5 Jr. Jaylen Davis, 6-4 Sr. Will Hardin, 6-7 Sr. Robby Todd. 5-11 So. Parker Mullins, and 6-2 So. Eli Steele. ( Coach Feldhaus was missing Trey Skaggs who was unable to play due to an injury).  Great Crossing coach Steve Page countered with 6-5 Fr. Vince Dawson III, 6-3 Sr. Tye Schureman, 6-10 Fr. Malachi Moreno, 5-9 So. Junius Burrell, and 6-3 Fr. Gage Richardson.

 

Great Crossing defeated Madison Central 61-55 in overtime.  The score was tied eight times and there were 12 lead changes in this game.  Great Crossing shot 46.3% from the field including five of 13 from the three point line.  The Warhawks connected on 18 of 30 free throws, pulled down 34 rebounds, and scored 11 points off 13 Madison Central turnovers.  Madison Central shot 36.4% from the field including seven of 21 from beyond the arc.  The Indians connected on 16 of 24 free throws, pulled down 27 rebounds, and scored 16 points off 11 Great Crossing turnovers.

 

Vince Dawson III led Great Crossing with 29 points including nine of 11 free throws, seven rebounds, and three assists.  Junius Burrell added nine points, three rebounds, five assists, and two steals.  5-10 Sr. Carson Walls added eight points including two three point baskets and four rebounds.  Malachi Moreno chipped in with five points and nine rebounds.

 

Will Hardin led Madison Central with 19 points including three three point baskets, six of six free throws, 11 rebounds, and two steals.  Robby Todd added 17 points and three rebounds.  Parker Mullins recorded 11 points including two three point baskets, four assists, and three steals.

Henry Clay coach Daniel Brown started the following lineup: 6-2 Sr. Aziel Blackwell, 6-2 Jr. Kyan Miller, 6-7 Sr. Brenden Wicker, 5-9 Jr. Konlin Brown, and 6-1 Sr. Kanye Henderson.  Lexington Catholic coach Brandon Salsman countered with 6-4 Jr. Hudson Sparks, 6-2 Sr. Jack Gohmann, 6-10 Jr. Reece Potter, 6-0 Sr. Blake Busson, and 6-0 So. John Reinhart.

 

Henry Clay defeated Lexington Catholic by the score of 70-58.  This was a game of runs as Henry Clay led 17-8 after the first quarter but Lexington Catholic rallied to lead 27-24 at halftime.  Henry Clay rallied in the third quarter to take control of the game as they led 42-35 after three quarters and held on for the victory.  There were three ties and two lead changes in the game.  Henry Clay shot 46.5% from the field including five of 13 from the three point line.  The Blue Devils connected on 25 of 35 free throws, pulled down 30 rebounds, and scored 20 points off 13 Lexington Catholic turnovers.  Lexington Catholic shot 46.5% from the field including six of 20 from beyond the arc.  The Knights connected on 12 of 15 free throws, pulled down 26 rebounds, and scored seven points off nine Henry Clay turnovers.

 

Kanye Henderson led Henry Clay with 22 points including 12 of 17 free throws, nine rebounds, two assists, and three steals.  Aziel Blackwell added 22 points including two three point baskets, eight of 12 free throws, six rebounds, two assists, and four steals.  Konlin Brown recorded 19 points including three three point baskets, four of four free throws and three steals.  Brenden Wicker pulled down eight rebounds.

 

Jack Gohmann led Lexington Catholic with 22 points including seven of nine free throws, two rebounds, and four assists.  John Reinhart added 19 points including four three point baskets, three of three free throws, two assists, and three steals.  Hudson Sparks recorded seven points and four rebounds.  Reece Potter chipped in with four points, four rebounds, and two blocked shots.

Jay Rose, 6-2 Sr. Blake Simpson, 6-5 Sr. Nate Turner, 5-8 Fr. Casen Nobbe, and 6-0 So. Braden Hudson.

 

Paul Laurence Dunbar led by 10 points late in the second quarter but Madison Southern rallied for a 54-46 victory.  The score was tied eight times and there were 11 lead changes in this game.  Madison Central shot 40.5% from the field including four of 23 from the three point line.  The Eagles connected on 16 of 26 free throws, pulled down 30 rebounds, and scored 19 points off 20 Paul Laurence Dunbar turnovers.  Paul Laurence Dunbar shot 38.6% from the field including seven of 23 from beyond the arc.  The Bulldogs connected on five of 14 free throws, pulled down 37 rebounds, and scored 11 points off 13 Madison Southern turnovers.

 

6-1 So. Zach Hudson led Madison Southern with 22 points including three three point baskets, five of six free throws, two rebounds, and three steals.  Jay Rose added 11 points including five of eight free throws, six rebounds, four assists, and two steals.  Braden Hudson recorded six points and five rebounds.

 

Zach Carter led Paul Laurence Dunbar with 14 points including two three point baskets, nine rebounds, and two assists.  Nick Spalding added 10 points and five rebounds.  Max VanDyke recorded six points, seven rebounds, and two steals.  Lionel Kumwimba pulled down 14 rebounds.  Dunbar was hampered by foul woes tonight as Nick Spalding and Hunter Williams fouled out.

5-11 jr. Kai Simpson led Frederick Douglass with 17 points including three three point baskets.  6-7 Jr. Tyson Barrett added 15 points and six rebounds.  5-10 Fr. Armelo Boone and 6-0 Jr. Tylon Webb each recorded 12 points.  6-3 Fr .Aveion Chenault chipped in with nine points on three three point baskets and six rebounds.

 

6-2 Sr. Zach Semones led Western Hills with 14 points including four three point baskets.  6-5 Fr. Javeon Campbell added 11 points.  6-4 Jr. Walter Campbell recorded eight points and 11 rebounds.

Lafayette, fueled by a dominating performance by Anaya Brown, defeated Henry Clay by the score of 38-33.  There were two ties and three lead changes in this game.  Lafayette shot 37.5% from the field including one of 12 from the three point line.  The Generals connected on seven of 15 free throws, pulled down 35 rebounds, and scored 10 points off 11 Henry Clay turnovers.  Henry Clay shot 29.8% from the field including four of 18 from beyond the arc.  The Lady Blue Devils connected on one of three free throws, pulled down 29 rebounds, and scored five points off 13 Lafayette turnovers.

Franklin County outscored Madison Southern 10-2 in the third quarter on their way to a 37-28 victory.  There were five ties and six lead changes in this game.  Franklin County shot 34.1% from the field including three of eight from the three point line.  The Lady Flyers connected on six of 14 free throws, pulled down 32 rebounds, and scored eight points off 15 Madison Southern turnovers.  Madison Southern shot 23.8% from the field including four of 17 from beyond the arc.  The Lady Eagles connected on four of seven free throws, pulled down 34 rebounds, and scored two points off 10 Franklin County turnovers.

 

Patience Laster led Franklin County with 16 points including two three point baskets, six rebounds, and three blocked shots.  Jhaven Meade added six points and six rebounds.  Rachel Shropshire recorded five points, four rebounds, and two assists.  Nevaeh Carter added four points, five rebounds, five assists, one blocked shot, and six steals.

Henry Clay defeated Great Crossing by the scored of 47-43.  The score was tied four times and there were three lead changes in this game.  Henry Clay shot 42.2% from the field including three of 10 from the three point line.  The Blue Devils connected on six of 11 free throws, pulled down 28 rebounds, and scored six points off seven Great Crossing turnovers.  Great Crossing shot 31.9% from the field including two of 13 from beyond the arc.  The Warhawks connected on 11 of 15 free throws, pulled down 36 rebounds, and scored six points off four Henry Clay turnovers.

Madison Southern led by eight points early in the fourth quarter but Frederick Douglass rallied to earn a 60-54 victory over the Eagles.  There were two ties and seven lead changes in this game.  Frederick Douglass shot 41.9% from the field including four of 16 from the three point line.  The Broncos connected on 20 of 31 free throws, pulled down 35 rebounds, and scored 17 points off 12 Madison Southern turnovers.  Madison Southern shot 32.6% from the field including six of 26 from beyond the arc.  The Eagles connected on 18 of 25 free throws, pulled down 30 rebounds, and scored seven points off 12 Frederick Douglass turnovers.

 

Tyson Barrett led Frederick Douglass with 12 points including six of eight free throws, and 10 rebounds.  Armelo Boone added 12 points including three three point baskets, three rebounds, and two steals.  Kai Simpson recorded 11 points including six of eight free throws, five rebounds, and two assists.  Shemar O’Roy-Ford chipped in with nine points, nine rebounds, and two steals.  Tylon Webb added eight points and three rebounds.

 

Jay Rose led Madison Southern with 25 points including two three point baskets, 11 of 14 free throws, and three rebounds.  Braden Hudson added 11 points including three three point baskets, and 10 rebounds.  6-1 So. Zach Hudson recorded nine points, five rebounds, and three assists.

Franklin County coach Joey Thacker started the following lineup: 6-1 So. Rachel Shropshire, 5-10 Sr. Patience Laster, 6-4 Jr. Jhaven Meade, 5-5 Sr. Nevaeh Carter, and 6-0 Jr. Jazmin Chambers.  Lafayette coach Allison Denton countered with 5-10 Sr. Olivia Cathers, 5-10 Fr. Savannah Simpson, 6-1 Sr. Anaya Brown, 5-1 Sr. Catherine Jacobs, and 5-5 Jr. Gracyn Grantz.

 

Franklin County trailed 15-14 at halftime but pulled away in the second half to defeat Lafayette by the score of 41-29.  Lafayette had an excellent game plan but was not able to knock down the open shots.  The score was tied three times and there were five lead changes in the game.  Franklin County shot 32.6% from the field including one of 17 from the three point line.  The Lady Flyers connected on 12 of 26 free throws, pulled down 42 rebounds, and scored nine points off 10 Lafayette turnovers.  Lafayette shot only 15.6% from the field including three of 22 from beyond the arc.  The Generals connected on 12 of 16 from the free throw line, pulled down 36 rebounds, and scored nine points off nine Franklin County turnovers. 

 

Patience Laster shot 11 points, 11 rebounds, and two steals.  Jhaven Meade added eight points and 10 rebounds.  Nevaeh Carter recorded seven points, nine rebounds, and five assists.  5-3 Fr. Leia Hogan chipped in with seven points and three steals.

 

Olivia Cathers led Lafayette with 13 points and eight rebounds.  Anaya Brown added nine points, eight rebounds, two blocked shots, and two steals.  Gracyn Grantz recorded six points and three rebounds.

Henry Clay pulled away late to defeat Frederick Douglass by the score of 41-37.  There were seven lead changes in this game.  Henry Clay shot 38.9% from the field including two of 12 from the three point line.  The Blue Devils connected on 11 of 18 free throws, pulled down 30 rebounds, and scored 10 points off 11 Frederick Douglass turnovers.  Frederick Douglass shot 35.1% from the field including one of 12 from beyond the arc.  The Broncos connected on nine of 20 free throws, pulled down 27 rebounds, and scored eight points off 10 Henry Clay turnovers.

 

Kanye Henderson led Henry Clay with 14 points and four rebounds.  Aziel Blackwell added 12 points.  Kyan Miller recorded seven points and eight rebounds.  6-0 Jr. Mason Hawkins chipped in with four points on four of four free throws, five rebounds, and two steals.
