Covington Catholic defeated Ryle by the score of 47-21. Covington Catholic recorded 17 first downs and 377 yards of total offense. The Colonels were penalized three times for 29 yards and had a pass intercepted. Ryle recorded 13 first downs and 245 yards of total offense. The Raiders were penalized five times for 18 yards and had three passes intercepted.
Owen Leen led Covington Catholic’s ground game with 185 yards and three touchdowns on 22 carries. Zacc. Roberts carried the ball 10 times for 53 yards and two touchdowns. Zacc. Roberts completed nine of 14 passes for 130 yards and two touchdowns with one interception. Braylon Miller caught three passes for 51 yards and one touchdown. Marcus Suwinski caught two passes for 40 yards. Oliver Link caught a 15 yard touchdown pass. Ben McEvoy returned one kickoff for 78 yards. Tyler Steffen returned one kickoff for 27 yards. Josh Flood returned two kickoffs for 15 yards. Tate Kruer led the defense with seven solo tackles with one of his tackles resulting in a one yard loss and intercepted three passes which he returned for 11 yards. Josh Flood and Oliver Bent each recorded four solo and one solo tackles. Travis Stewart added two solo tackles with his tackles resulting in losses totaling 11 yards.
Kaden Gardner led Ryle’s ground game with 19 yards and two touchdowns on two carries. Logan Verax carried the ball five times for 18 yards. Jayce Harden recorded 11 yards and a touchdown on five carries. Logan Verax completed 14 of 26 passes for 151 yards with three interceptions. Larry Warner completed two of three passes for 26 yards. Grady Reynolds caught seven passes for 50 yards. Jamal Alexis caught two passes for 56 yards. Kaden Gardner recorded three receptions for 47 yards. Jamal Alexis returned four kickoffs for 46 yards with a long return of 20 yards. Jacob Savage led the defense with six solo and two assisted tackles and intercepted a pass he returned 52 yards. Collin Ross added five solo and two assisted tackles. Kaden Gardner recorded four solo and two assisted tackles.
